It's not every day you get to speak at the University of Oxford! Thank you to the Geospatial: Government Digital Service and Ordnance Survey for inviting me to speak at the Cambridge Conference at Pembroke College. The conference has been running since 1928 and brings together industry leaders from all over the world. It was a great opportunity to showcase innovation in the UK while hearing how others approach similar challenges.
Yesterday, Viability took part in the Cambridge Conference, hosted by Ordnance Survey at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. Since 1928, the Cambridge Conference has brought together national mapping agencies and geospatial experts from across the globe to share ideas and shape the future of how we use data to understand the world. This year’s theme, “Reinventing the Map”, focused on the policy, technical, and societal challenges that will redefine how geospatial information supports everything from environmental policy to infrastructure development. Our co-founder Henry Mayell was invited to present our platform, highlighting how we use smart automation and geospatial data to support more sustainable, efficient development, in order to tackle the housing crisis. From new uses for 3D geospatial data to the growing potential of satellite insights, the day was packed with fascinating case studies and perspectives on how geospatial data is being used to make better, faster decisions that benefit people and the planet. We’re incredibly grateful to be included (thanks to Geospatial: Government Digital Service) and to contribute to the conversation around how geospatial technology can shape a more sustainable future. A huge thank you to Ordnance Survey and all the speakers and participants Nick Bolton, Abigail Page, Sarah Hodgetts, Freddie Ryan, Mick Dunn, Douglas McNeil, Liz Scott, Stuart Lynn, Isambard Poulson, Daniel S. and Nabil Lodey, for such a high-impact and forward-thinking event. #Innovation #SustainableDevelopment #PropTech #Viability #Networking

Last week Henry Mayell attended the OS Innovation Festival at Explorer House, bringing together a room full of innovators and founders to tackle some of society’s biggest challenges, from housing to climate resilience. 🗣️ A highlight was the engaging talk by Nick Bolton, CEO of Ordnance Survey, setting the tone for a day full of insight and collaboration. 🔍 The keynote by Lewis Dartnell was particularly fascinating, exploring the powerful connection between geospatial data and political events, a timely reminder of just how interconnected our world really is. 🏗️ A huge thanks to Ordnance Survey and Geovation for the opportunity to present and share how we’re using OS data at Viability to support the homebuilding industry. It was incredibly rewarding to show OS team members firsthand how their data is helping developers appraise and optimise more sites, faster and ultimately, deliver more homes. It was great to share the room with familiar faces from Geovation: Henry Sternberg, David Avetisyan, Amber Rignell, Wayne Newton - BSc, MSc, MBA, Richard Hargreaves, 🌒 Andre Wang, Ben Angwin, Oliver Bradburne, Ethan Edwards #InnovationFestival #OrdnanceSurvey #Geospatial #HousingCrisis #TechForGood #PropTech #Viability #DataForDevelopment

💰 Cashflow forecasting is a crucial part of financial analysis and our platform simplifies the process, helping you create precise, adaptable forecasts. A site’s true viability isn’t fully evaluated until every option has been explored. We integrate Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) into our appraisals and cashflow models to help developers assess the financial benefits and potential savings in their projects. Faster build times mean a shorter borrowing period, which can lead to significant savings on interest and financing costs—something you can only quantify by doing a full cashflow analysis. With detailed financial insight, you can move forward with confidence, making faster and more informed investment decisions. ⚙️ Plan ahead with accurate cashflow projections 📈 Track your project’s liquidity and financial health in real-time ⚠️ Spot potential funding gaps before they become issues Ready to see it in action? Development projects are full of uncertainty, from fluctuating build costs to shifting sales values, the outcome rarely mirrors the initial appraisal. Without a clear strategy in place, projects can quickly become higher in risk and harder to manage. This is why Sensitivity Analysis is a core part of our viability assessments. This feature automatically evaluates how changes in construction costs and net development values impact your site’s financial feasibility. With the ability to simulate different scenarios, you can gain a clearer picture of potential risks and opportunities before committing to a project. How does it help? ⚠️ Identify and mitigate risks early 📊 Compare financial scenarios to understand potential outcomes 💪 Make stronger, data-driven decisions Let’s make smarter development decisions, start a free trial or book a call with us! #sensitivity #sensitivityanalysis #propertydevelopment #viability #viabilityassessment
