Proud to see future criminology and policing professionals gaining hands-on experience right here in our dojo! 👏 We’re committed to providing the best training environment for officers and students alike, helping them develop the skills needed to handle high-pressure situations. Seeing them engage in conflict training and explore the realities of the criminal justice system reinforces why hands-on experience is so valuable.
Our FdSc Criminology, Policing, and Criminal Law Students recently had an incredible opportunity to engage in conflict training, work with police drug dogs, and visit an operational prison. This unique experience allowed them to see "behind the walls" of our criminal justice system, something few members of the public ever get to witness. The day was incredibly insightful, offering a glimpse into the life of a prison officer, which some of our students are now considering as a career. They also experienced the feeling of being "controlled," linking it to their criminological studies. Moreover, they witnessed the impressive rehabilitation efforts at Sodexo prison, where inmates work in textile manufacturing, creating items for sale in society. This experience highlighted how the criminal justice system prepares prisoners for reintegration, aiming to reduce recidivism rates. The visit also showcased the tight security measures in place, providing a rare insight into the operational aspects of a prison. A huge thank you to Simon Foster and his training team at Sodexo for making this day possible! 🙌
