Retirement isn’t a date-it’s a process. In this episode of The World Class Leaders Show, host Andrea Petrone, sits down with Teresa Amabile, Professor Emerita at Harvard Business School, and Lotte Bailyn, Professor Emerita at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The biggest misconceptions about retirement, the reasons it’s not just a financial decision, and how organizations and individuals can rethink this major life transition. Retirement isn’t a single day-it’s a process. Many believe retirement is just about finances. Save enough, and you’re set. But that’s only part of the equation. Retirement unfolds over time. It begins long before your last day at work and continues well after. What really matters? Preparing mentally, emotionally, and structurally for the shift. People who thrive in retirement aren’t just financially secure-they’ve built a life beyond work. They’ve explored new identities, new routines, and new ways to stay engaged. 🎥Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/e-myCi27 ------------------------------------------------- Grab your FREE copy of “10 Foolproof Ways New CEOs Establish Authority From Day One” and start leading with confidence today! 👉 Download Now - https://lnkd.in/gbtiGP7C ------------------------------------------------- #leadership #careertransition #futureofwork #retirementplanning #lifebeyondwork

How one leader changed my life (And how you can do the same for others): In my first year at work, I was just one among many. Fresh graduate, ambitious but no credentials. But one leader saw something in me. He didn’t care that I lacked the experience others had. He cared about my potential. He took a chance and gave me responsibilities I wasn’t sure I was ready for. Coached me through my doubts. Celebrated even the small wins. That single act of belief became the turning point in my career. Now, as I work with CEOs and leaders, I’ve realized this: Every leader has the power to change a life like that. The question is: Will you? Here’s how you can become the leader they’ll never forget: 1️⃣ Spot the fire in their eyes ↦ Passion and potential are easy to see if you’re looking ↦ Don’t get distracted by their lack of experience 2️⃣ Give them their shot ↦ It doesn’t have to be a massive opportunity. Start small ↦ Assign key project that stretches their comfort zone 3️⃣ Be their coach, not just their boss ↦ They will stumble. That’s when they need you most ↦ Guide them, offer feedback, believe in them (tell them!) 4️⃣ Celebrate their progress ↦ Even the smallest win can fuel their confidence ↦ Encouragement at the right time can mean the world 5️⃣ Build your legacy, one person at a time ↦ Leadership isn’t measured by how much you achieve ↦ It’s measured by how much you help others achieve If you want to be a leader who leaves a mark, start here: Take a chance on someone. One opportunity could change their life forever. And yours too. P.S. Years later, I still think about that leader. ♻️ Repost to inspire other leaders and follow Andrea Petrone for more.

I've hired hundreds of people, and I learned one truth: Resumes rarely tell the whole story. I still remember one applicant who stood out because of an impeccable resume. Yet six months in, they struggled to adapt. Another, whose CV was underwhelming, became a game-changer because of their mindset. It taught me this: Success isn’t written on paper—it’s shaped by the traits that can’t be listed. Here’s what truly predicts success: 1. Mindset over skillset ➟ Skills are teachable but growth mindsets build leaders ➟ Seek people who tend to ask “How can I improve?” ➟ These are the ones who thrive when stakes are high 2. Curiosity fuels growth ➟ The best candidates don’t settle for surface answers ➟ They ask “why” until they uncover breakthroughs ➟ Their relentless curiosity opens doors others overlook 3. Adaptability beats expertise ➟ During change, rigid expertise can become a liability ➟ Look for those who pivot with grace ➟ Accept ambiguity and adapt faster than market shifts 4. Collaboration over solo talent ➟ A star performer can deliver results ➟ But a true team player multiplies them ➟ Seek people who amplify others’ strengths 5. Integrity above all ➟ Competence matters ➟ But without character, it crumbles under pressure ➟ Integrity builds trust, and trust shapes the right culture The perfect candidate may not have: ↳ The most polished CV ↳ All the “right” answers ↳ Or a flawless interview But they bring the attitude and values that elevate your team and drive results. Next time you’re hiring, think beyond qualifications. Your company will thank you. What did you learn from hiring? ♻️ Repost to inspire leaders to hire beyond the resume and follow Andrea Petrone for more.

Staying in a job that kills your spirit isn’t loyalty. It’s slow self-abandonment. Your job should: ✅ Empower you ❌ Not drain you. ✅ It should inspire you ❌ Not leave you dreading every day. Look for lessons in the challenge ➟ Every struggle can prepare you for something greater 5️⃣ Talk to Someone You Trust ➟ Don’t carry this alone ➟ Seek clarity and strength through connection 6️⃣ Take Breaks ➟ Don’t wait until burnout takes over ➟ Regular pauses restore energy and focus 7️⃣ Reevaluate Your Path ➟ Is this job still aligned with your values? ➟ Remember: Change is always within reach Your well-being is non-negotiable. Giving retirees “busywork” is a leadership failure. In this episode of The World Class Leaders Show, host Andrea Petrone, sits down with Teresa Amabile, Professor Emerita at Harvard Business School, and Lotte Bailyn, Professor Emerita at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The impact of organizations on the retirement experience, the hidden biases against older workers, and the need for companies to rethink how they support employees during this major life transition. Older workers are not expendable. Yet, many organizations treat them as if they are. A major mistake leaders make? Assigning busywork or mindless tasks to employees nearing retirement. Research shows that those who had creative and meaningful assignments in their final years at work experienced more satisfying retirements. The link is clear-when employees engage in complex problem-solving and creativity, they contribute more to the organization and set themselves up for a fulfilling next chapter. Instead of sidelining experienced professionals, companies should recognize their value. Encourage mentorship, allow them to pass down knowledge, and create transition programs that respect their contributions. 🎥Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/e-myCi27 ------------------------------------------------- Grab your FREE copy of “10 Foolproof Ways New CEOs Establish Authority From Day One” and start leading with confidence today! 👉 Download Now - https://lnkd.in/gbtiGP7C ------------------------------------------------- #leadership #careerdevelopment #mentorship #futureofwork #retirementplanning

You’re successful. But deep down, something feels off. You’ve mastered the game but you’re no longer sure you want the prize. That’s the cost of living outside your zone of genius. Excellence is what you're praised for. Genius is what you were born for. Here’s how to get closer to yours: 1️⃣ Notice when time disappears ↳ That’s your flow. Genius doesn’t rush—it absorbs. 2️⃣ Track the compliments you dismiss ↳ What others admire in you feels “normal.” That’s a clue. 3️⃣ Do what feels like play but looks like work to others ↳ That’s your edge. 4️⃣ Ask: What would I choose if success was guaranteed? ↳ Your answer is the path your heart already trusts. 5️⃣ Look for the work that energizes and stretches you ↳ Growth and joy aren’t opposites. They’re partners. 6️⃣ Return to what lit you up as a child. ↳ Before the world told you who to be, you already knew. 7️⃣ Write about what moved you. ↳ You’ll find patterns. Your genius hides there. 8️⃣ Get radically honest about impact. ↳ Not just what you do, but what you change. 9️⃣ Ask someone you trust what you can’t see for yourself ↳ Sometimes, your genius needs a mirror. Your Zone of Genius isn’t a role. It’s where your gifts meet your soul. Find it and your work becomes a legacy. ♻️ Repost it to help others find their own genius and follow Andrea Petrone for more.

What if the second half of your life is where your real purpose begins? We’re joined by Teresa Amabile, Professor Emerita at Harvard Business School, and Lotte Bailyn, Professor Emerita at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, two iconic scholars who spent a decade exploring how high-performing professionals truly experience retirement. Their research reveals what most of us never talk about: the emotional complexity, the fear of losing identity, and the surprising opportunity for reinvention after stepping away from work. Retirement isn’t the finish line-it’s a deeply personal transition. One that unfolds slowly, with intention. Letting go of a title doesn’t mean letting go of value. Because purpose doesn’t retire. We explore how individuals navigate the psychological shift, Why letting go actually takes work, And how organizations can create meaningful support in that final chapter. This isn’t about exit strategies. It’s about honoring experience and embracing what’s next. 🎥Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/e-myCi27 ------------------------------------------------- Grab your FREE copy of “10 Foolproof Ways New CEOs Establish Authority From Day One” and start leading with confidence today! 👉 Download Now - https://lnkd.in/gbtiGP7C ------------------------------------------------- #RetirementReimagined #PurposeAfterWork #LeadershipEvolution #SecondActSuccess #WorkTransitions #WisdomAtWork

Great leaders don't chase numbers. They change lives. I still remember the one who changed mine. It wasn’t because of my achievements. It was because he made me feel seen, believed in, and capable of more. If you want to be the leader people remember, here’s what you should do: 1️⃣ Spot the overlooked → Great leaders see potential in people that others ignore → They don’t just reward success—they create it 2️⃣ Speak belief → “I believe in you” seems small, but it can change lives → Your belief can become someone’s turning point 3️⃣ Remember your journey → Who believed in you when you didn’t believe in yourself → Be that person for someone else 4️⃣ Lead with kindness → Leadership isn’t about grand gestures → It’s about small acts like listening and encouragement 5️⃣ Focus on legacy → The emails you send will be forgotten → But the way you made people feel will live on Your leadership isn’t defined by your position. It’s defined by the lives you touch. Ask yourself: Who can I believe in? Who can I lift up? The world doesn’t need more bosses. It needs more leaders who believe first. ♻️ Repost it to inspire someone today and follow Andrea Petrone for more.

Here are 9 things people with integrity do differently (One or two might surprise you): Without integrity, leadership is empty. The truth? The gap between what leaders say and what they do is growing every day. This disconnect: ↳ Erodes trust ↳ Poisons culture ↳ Creates blame instead of ownership Integrity isn’t just a nice-to-have. It’s the foundation of leadership. And yet… it’s often the first thing sacrificed for success. Leaders with integrity set different standards. Here’s how they lead differently (and better): 1️⃣ Their word is their bond ↳ Keep promises—trust is built on follow-through. 2️⃣ They stand for what’s right ↳ Speak up when something’s wrong, even if it’s hard 3️⃣ They embody the standards they expect ↳ Actions always align with values—no shortcuts 4️⃣ They own problems beyond their own ↳ Proactively solve issues at work and in the community 5️⃣ They act before it’s too late ↳ Tackle what matters most, today—not tomorrow 6️⃣ They lead with humility ↳ Gratitude and recognition are their default settings 7️⃣ They champion transparency ↳ Open, honest communication. Even admitting mistakes 8️⃣ They give credit generously ↳ Publicly celebrate others’ contributions 9️⃣ They are anchors of trust ↳ No gossip. No betrayals. Trust is their currency Here’s the bottom line: People with integrity honor their words. Because their word is who they are. Which of these resonates with you most? ♻️ Share this post to inspire leaders to lead with integrity and follow Andrea Petrone for more.

Most people mistake discomfort for a sign to stop. But they never ask what happens if they don’t. Because discomfort isn’t the enemy. Our perception of it is. We’ve grown up to see struggle as a warning sign. To believe that difficulty means you’re on the wrong path. But what if: ↳ You’ve been looking at it all wrong? ↳ Growth feels wrong—because it’s meant to? ↳ Is everything you’re resisting actually shaping you into the leader you’re meant to be? Here’s a different view: 1️⃣ Strength comes from struggle ↠ The weight you carry now makes you stronger later ↠ Pressure tests your resilience ↠ No struggle, no strength 2️⃣ Learning feels like failure before it feels like wisdom ↠ If you never feel lost, you're not growing fast enough ↠ Confusion means you're stretching ↠ Struggle now, clarity later 3️⃣ Investing in yourself feels like a cost—until it pays off ↠ The best ROI is always you ↠ Stagnation is more expensive than growth ↠ The best leaders never stop learning 4️⃣ Fear is the price of courage ↠ If you're never scared, you're playing too small ↠ Imposter syndrome means you're leveling up ↠ Confidence is built through action, not waiting 5️⃣ Discomfort is not your enemy—it’s your guide ↠ Everything you want sits just beyond what feels easy ↠ The hardest moments define you ↠What feels impossible now will soon feel natural. The leader you want to be five years from now is counting on you to push through today. The resistance you feel? It’s a sign you’re on the right path. So keep going. Bet on yourself. You’ll thank yourself later. ♻️ Share it to inspire other leaders to push through And follow Andrea Petrone for more.
