Whether you swing by to while away a morning with freshly baked cake and Origin Coffee or drop in for some feel-good food (and a serious drinks list to match), you can always be sure of a warm welcome.

A new season is in the air and that means fresh treats are in store across THE PIGs: longer days, lighter evenings, and an abundance of colourful, homegrown produce in our Kitchen Gardens! April’s veg beds are brimming with spring produce, from sweet new potatoes, cabbage, and the first spears of homegrown asparagus, to leeks and spring onions – all adding a punch of flavour to our 25 mile menu seasonal dishes. And, of course, we’re still spotting plenty of our chefs’ favourite spring crop… forced rhubarb, ready to steal the show in all things sweet and delicious! 🍃

And just like that, B Corp Month comes to a close… but the journey doesn’t stop here! 🌱 Over the past few weeks, we’ve been celebrating what it truly means to be a B Corp: shining a light on our brilliant local charity partners, championing our like-minded suppliers, and hosting some incredible events across our PIGs. From Women in the Waves at THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay and our Becoming a B Corp panel at THE PIG-near Bath, to a full-on two-day retreat with Good Company down in Cornwall for B Corps at the Beach with some of the best in the business, it’s been a month of learning, sharing, and raising a glass (or two) to doing business for good. But being a B Corp isn’t just about one month - it’s something we’re proud to live and breathe every day. Good coffee is always worth the journey... and our fellow B Corp friends at Origin Coffee in Cornwall have found a way to make that journey a whole lot better! Origin’s newest blend, Sail Ship coffee, is transported by boat across the Atlantic Ocean from a family-run farm in Brazil. Shipping this coffee by sail means they can offer our communities, and now us at THE PIGs, high-quality, consciously sourced speciality coffee, with a significantly lower environmental footprint. These ships might look like a thing of the past, but they are state of the art, wind-powered sailing vessels, that reduce carbon emissions by 4x when compared to average diesel-powered sea freight! We caught up with Sarah, Sustainability Manager at Origin, to hear how they made it happen.

The final day of B Corps at the Beach kicked off with a surf session in Harlyn Bay followed by a beachside keynote from Tom Kay, Founder, Finisterre. Guests then returned to THE PIG Hotel | B Corp for more inspirational talks from Chris Hines, Co-Founder, Surfers Against Sewage, and Will Pearson, Co-Founder, Ocean Bottle, where they explored topics including intelligent activism and why doing less harm just isn't enough. Following this we visited St Eval’s factory and farm to learn more about manufacturing with a positive impact and a candle making masterclass before the event came to an end.
