About us

Founded in 2012 by two seventh-generation cobblers, Galahad and Asher Clark, Vivobarefoot is based on one simple insight - barefoot footwear is sustainable footwear. A Vivobarefoot product or experience is one that literally brings us closer to nature - regenerating our physical, social and spiritual health and the natural world. We believe: The closer people are to nature, the more they will protect it. The natural world is the only real model of sustainability. Barefoot shoes are the only shoes that are healthy for us and the planet.

“When you put your foot into a muddy puddle and you just feel it all, but you’re reacting to that environment, you’re part of that environment in that moment, and for me that’s super powerful, you know, we have various sensory organs in the body and we should use them all, if we use them all when we’re in nature we’re really going to get a profound experience from it, particularly as you go deeper and deeper away from cities and civilisation, those experiences become more profound.” – Nicholas Charlier Our very own Nicholas Charlier, the driving force behind VIVO's community programs and innovative VivoHealth platform, sat down with CEO & Co-founder of Aire Libre, Mauricio Diaz Arellano Curts on the latest episode of Beyond Running podcast – Ep. 43 "Barefoot and Beyond: Reconnecting with Nature Through Running”. Together, Mau and Nicholas go into the transformative power of movement and the art of reconnecting with nature through running. Nicholas talks on his 13 years experience in the health and movement industry where he has integrated education, research, and coaching into a global network that supports a holistic approach to well-being. The episode explores: 🌿 The benefits of barefoot running. 🌿 Fostering a stronger connection to the natural world. 🌿 How healing, both physical and mental, is deeply intertwined with movement.  🌿 The intersection of running, wellness, and community. 🌿 Nicholas' personal journey as a competitive trail runner and what it’s taught him about resilience, leadership, and balance. What. A. Night ✨ – The UNBOUND premiere. On Wednesday night, we celebrated UNBOUND: a story of women's foot liberation. Gathered at The ArtHotel Hoxton, we brought UNBOUND to life in a room filled with energy, empowerment, and a collective voice for change. Our guests joined us for an exclusive screening of the groundbreaking new documentary by visionary filmmaker Becky Hutner (Fashion Reimagined) and Oscar-nominated producer Melissa Robledo (Food, Inc.). The screening was followed by a powerful Q&A hosted by Samantha Moyo, featuring panelists Tuuli Shipster, Aicha McKenzie, Rina Harris, Becky Hutner, Sarah Macklin, and Tati Gabrielle (who joined us virtually from California). We dove deep into what it truly means to break free from footwear that holds us back — unlearning, relearning, and embracing a future where we move with strength, freedom, and intention. We grounded ourselves in a new way of thinking, connected over shared experiences, and left feeling more in tune — not just with our feet, but with each other. To everyone who joined us, thank you for making this such a powerful moment. If we can come this far in shoes that work against us, imagine where we could go barefoot. UNBOUND is out now! Introducing the official trailer for UNBOUND: a story of women's foot liberation.   For centuries, women have been told that blisters and weak feet are the price we pay for style, and our foot problems have nothing to do with the ultra-cushioned trainers and narrow, pointy shoes we’ve been wearing all our lives.   If we can come this far in shoes that work against us, imagine where we could go barefoot.   UNBOUND is out now! On International Women’s Day, we gathered at The Roof Gardens in London for a day of connection, movement, and empowerment. Hosted by the incredible Aicha McKenzie, Beauty in Power brought together a community of women to reset together and take meaningful action towards their goals.   The event was a rewarding reminder of the strength found within Vivo's female community as we connected through barefoot grounding, breathwork and even face yoga!    Thank you to our conversation leaders, DR ATEH JEWEL, HonDmedia, Dulma Clark, and Judy Koloko for driving forward impactful discussions on women's health and wellbeing. We left feeling empowered and deeply rooted—in both ourselves and the women in this special community we are growing.   What does female empowerment mean to you? Share your thoughts in the comments.   #Vivobarefoot #unstoppable #BeautyInPower #InternationalWomensDay

  • #MoreFromTheStore | In February we welcomed members of Muslim Runners and Muslim Hikers for two runs from our store, followed by a sauna and cold plunge immersion at the Slomo Wellness pop up at King’s Cross. It was an incredible experience, made even more special by our hosts, Haroon Mota, the founder of both organisations and a dedicated Vivobarefoot wearer for over five years and his run leader Semeena Khan.   This is just the beginning! Next week, we’ll be hosting a women’s-only run led by Sabrina Pace-Humphreys, Author, Speaker and co-founder & COO of Black Trail Runners.   We can’t wait to bring more of these experiences to life and connect with you all in person. What kind of event would you love to see next? Drop your ideas in the comments!   #Vivobarefoot #LondonEvents #vivobarefootcommunity #runclub Lorna Mann
