Instead of much needed food, clothing or tents to help Gaza’s children survive... Airstrikes are being launched into #Gaza, killing, maiming, and destroying the lives of children and families💔 Denying humanitarian aid is a crime under international law and a grave violation against children⚠️ If the international community does not intervene soon, an entire generation of children in Gaza will be erased, along with their futures. There must be a definitive ceasefire, and aid must be allowed to reach people. #CeasefireNow

Every mother and child deserve the chance to live a healthy life. Yet, millions still lack access to quality care❤️ When Diana went into early labor in Kenya, health workers quickly transferred her to a hospital supported by Save the Children. Her baby, Blessings, was born at just 1kg. Thanks to Kangaroo Mother Care, midwives and nurses helped Diana provide the warmth and care her baby needed to survive. But across the world, preterm birth, birth trauma, and congenital disorders remain leading causes of newborn deaths. In 2023 alone: 🔹4.8 million children under five died, nearly half in their first month 🔹1.9 million were stillborn 🔹260,000 women died from pregnancy complications The crisis is worsening—funding cuts threaten life-saving programmes, leaving thousands without care. If we don’t act, 32,500 women and babies will lose access to essential care in the next three months. We must act now. Save the Children International, UNICEF, and PMNCH are calling on world leaders to: ✅ Allocate 1–2% of GDP to primary healthcare ✅ Protect and increase funding for maternal, newborn, and child health ✅ Recruit and support health workers, midwives, and nurses ✅ Eliminate user fees for maternal and newborn care 📢 Join us in calling on leaders to act now. Sign the petition and help ensure every mother and baby gets the care they deserve. 🔗 Link to Petition: https://lnkd.in/evcX4ETF 📑 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/eaFnMMD4 #HopefulFutures #HealthForAll

We can't and won't let the foreign aid cuts stop us from delivering lifesaving aid to the most vulnerable children❤️ Despite progress made in the last decades, millions of children still lack basics like safe water, food, and clean air. Every year, 5 million children still die needlessly before their fifth birthday. But at a time when nearly 200 million children worldwide rely on lifesaving assistance, some of the world’s wealthiest countries are turning their backs on children and cutting their aid budgets. Despite the challenges we are facing we are more committed than ever to continuing our lifesaving work so that all children have a healthy start in life. Here are 5 ways we are keeping children healthy around the world: 1️⃣ Setting up a Newborn Health Centre in Gaza 2️⃣ Providing life-saving malnutrition treat to children in Somaliland 3️⃣ Providing nutrition support to families in Bangladesh 4️⃣ Vaccinating children against cholera in Zambia and Polio in Gaza 5️⃣ Supporting children's mental health in Syria We all want a world where every child has a safe, healthy, and happy childhood ❤️ This #WorldHealthDay join us and the growing movement in calling on leaders to put children first and invest in their futures. “I need to talk to my kids.” That was the immediate reaction of one of our colleagues after watching Netflix’s Adolescence — a sentiment probably echoed by many parents today. This new series shines a spotlight on the very real risks children face online — from harmful algorithms to the spread of misogynistic content. It also raises a critical question: how can we, collectively, create a safer digital world for children? In this powerful article, Rebecca Smith, Global Head of Child Protection Portfolio and Quality at Save the Children International, shares not just her personal reflections but clear, evidence-based actions that governments, tech companies, educators and parents can take. Because protecting children online isn’t optional — it’s essential. At Save the Children, we believe children must be at the heart of digital policy and innovation. We all have a role to play. 📖 Read the full piece and join the conversation below. #ChildProtection #OnlineSafety #Adolescence #Netflix
The popularity of the Netflix Programme "#Adolescence" shows just how much online safety continues to resonate with parents, with governments and teenagers themselves. My first response in watching this programme was that I need to talk to my children and I know that I'm not alone. I write, knowing that Rwanda just hosted an important summit on AI (#GAISA2025) and that people all over the world are trying to figure out how prepare our children for the rapidly changing world we live in. Save the Children International remains committed to world that no longer tolerates any form of violence against children, and increasingly this includes online violence. As the Netflix programme highlights, what is needed is joint accountability and action. Together, with and for children, we can support a safe digital childhood. Yemen remains one of the most heavily contaminated countries in the world with landmines and explosive ordnance. In 2024, 106 children were killed by them and many more were seriously injured. Children, in particular, have a heightened vulnerability to unexploded ordnance and landmines due to low-risk awareness and high inquisitiveness. Jihad, a psychosocial support specialist, helps children in #Yemen that have been injured by landmines. As a survivor himself, he knows the importance of not only providing medical care but the necessary emotional and psychological care to ensure kids can recover and thrive! ❤️ #MineAwarenessDay

Now in its tenth year, the conflict in Yemen, one of the poorest countries in the world, has left a trail of devastation. The lives of millions of Yemenis have been changed forever. ➡Although the fighting has slowed over the past three years, hunger, poverty, and deprivation continue to plague Yemeni families, with children bearing the greatest brunt. ➡️ Today, 10.8 million children urgently need life-saving assistance for food, clean water, healthcare, and education. 🗣️ We need more funding, more diplomacy and a definitive ceasefire agreed. We must see an end to this decade-long conflict once and for all. By donating to our Children's Emergency Fund, you can help protect the lives and futures of more children in crises👉 https://lnkd.in/ei3nWrQa #Yemen #conflict

On the morning that Myanmar’s 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck, 16-year-old student Yoon May* was having lunch at home in Mandalay and contemplating having a nap when she suddenly felt dizzy⚠️ “I couldn’t process what was happening. I just ran. I barely escaped. The moment I stepped outside, bricks started falling from the ceiling. We all ran to the open field near our house.", Yoon May*, 16. The earthquake on 28 March - the most powerful one in a century to hit Myanmar - has killed more than 2,000 people (estimates state the death toll could be as high as 10,000), injured at least 3,400 people and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, as well as disrupting electricity and telecommunications services across the country. Many families are now seeking shelter in monasteries, football fields, and open spaces, even if their homes are still standing for fear of aftershocks. Yoon May’s family is one of them. Their home was badly damaged, and her family have been left without water and electricity. They are now living in an open field, with only a mosquito net to protect them. Children in Myanmar were already facing a severe humanitarian crisis, even before this latest earthquake. Conflict, food insecurity and an economic crisis has left 6 million children already in need of humanitarian support ❤️ Together with our partners we are providing lifesaving aid in earthquake affected areas in Myanmar with an immediate need for water, food and health care services for children and their families. Save the Children has been working in Myanmar since 1995, and we won't stop now. Donate now to our Children's Emergency Fund to support children in Myanmar and around the world ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eFT5JsAD

We are closely monitoring the impact of a strong earthquake which struck #Myanmar on Friday 28th March. The earthquake was felt across major cities like Yangon, Mandalay and towns in Magway, Sagaing, and Shan with tremors causing destruction in Thailand and felt elsewhere in the region. ➡️ While the extent of the earthquake damage is still unclear, we know children are the most vulnerable following a disaster. ➡️ Our teams are moving quickly to check all our staff are safe, and to respond to the emergency. We have been working in Myanmar since 1995, providing life-saving healthcare, food and nutrition, education and child protection programme.
