We give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm in the US & around the world

About us

Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. Recognized for our commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, our work takes us into the heart of communities, where we help children and families help themselves. We work with other organizations, governments, non-profits and a variety of local partners while maintaining our own independence without political agenda or religious orientation. When disaster strikes around the world, Save the Children is there to save lives with food, medical care and education and remains to help communities rebuild through long-term recovery programs. As quickly and as effectively as Save the Children responds to tsunamis and civil conflict, it works to resolve the ongoing struggles children face every day — poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease — and replaces them with hope for the future.

  • It’s National Volunteer Week and we can’t miss the chance to celebrate every Save the Children volunteer in the U.S and worldwide. Thank you for making a difference for kids and their communities ✨ We’re also grateful to our corporate partners for bringing their teams together so more children can grow up happy, healthy and safe. Last year, our 20-year partner Mattel, Inc. helped #MakeSummerFair for hundreds of children during their Play It Forward Global Volunteer Week along with Once Upon a Farm, americangirl and our Save the Children Trustee and Ambassador Jennifer Garner. Volunteers are an integral part of our organization, contributing to our mission for children in a variety of ways that create positive change for kids everywhere. • Two years of conflict in Sudan is two years too long ❤️🩹   Homes and schools have been destroyed, families have been torn apart and childhood has been stolen from millions.   ‼️ This is the world’s largest child displacement crisis, and yet—it’s not getting the attention it deserves.   Children in Sudan need protection. They need food, education, safety and peace. We must keep talking about Sudan and we must act now.   Learn more about how to help 👉https://lnkd.in/dsZkDfuu

  • Actions always have consequences, even if unintended.    Christopher Nyamandi, Save the Children’s country director for South Sudan, spoke to The New York Times about the devastating impacts of foreign aid cuts on children. “The sudden withdrawal of funding that was the key to the survival of vulnerable families and children is going to result in more deaths,” he said. • Thousands of children in Myanmar have lost everything 😔 Homes destroyed. Families displaced. This crisis is far from over. Even before the earthquake, children were facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the region. Now, 1.1 million children urgently need lifesaving support—and that number is rising. As conditions worsen, Save the Children is on the ground, responding fast with essential needs. But we can’t do it alone. Your support can make a difference. Please consider donating today 🙏 https://lnkd.in/gifWebQ6

  • We work tirelessly so children can have the chance to thrive. Yet, today nearly half of all deaths among children under five are linked to hunger.   Take a glimpse inside one of Save the Children’s stabilization centers in Somalia. Fadumo, a dedicated health worker, shares how she and her team care for children battling life-threatening malnutrition. Her motivation is ours:   “What inspires me most is seeing a child who was very sick yesterday, walking away today with a smile,” Fadumo says.   🌎 🚑 This World Health Day, we join the humanitarian and development community in raising awareness about the importance of investing in maternal and newborn health. Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and strong.   #WorldHealthDay

  • For a child, books are more than just stories —they are windows to the world🪟🌍 Through books, children begin to understand language, learn about different cultures and develop their imagination. The magic of a good book ✨ can also spark curiosity, foster empathy and inspire lifelong learning.   We all have that one book that marked our childhood and shaped our view of the world 📖
