Our researchers have identified a natural genetic variation that provides European sea bass with a 90% survival rate against viral nervous necrosis (VNN), a deadly disease affecting global aquaculture. With no effective treatment and vaccines offering limited protection, this discovery offers a sustainable solution for fish breeding. Findings are now integrated into selective breeding tools to help farmers improve stock resilience.
