After volcanic eruptions devastated the town of Grindavík in Iceland, nearly 3,800 residents were forced to leave their homes, facing an uncertain future. Our ISAL aluminium plant in Straumsvík is located approximately 30 km from Grindavík. We’re working with the Icelandic Red Cross and local leaders to bring the community back together, funding initiatives that help children, families, and the elderly rebuild after their loss. ➡️ Learn more about how we’re helping: https://lnkd.in/g92ziFx8 #Grindavík

Originally built in the 11th century, the Chapel Notre-Dame Sabart in France has a rich history. It began as a place of worship, but the passage of time brought significant changes to its surroundings. ⛪ As industrialisation swept through the region in the early 20th century, the chapel found itself neighbouring an aluminium smelter, which eventually closed and was later acquired by us. 🏭 Through our collaborative efforts with the city of Tarascon-sur-Ariège, we have been able to help revitalise the area where the smelter stood and reestablish the chapel as a community hub and a place of pilgrimage.💡 📖 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gujjG5Em

This 158.20 carat gem-quality yellow diamond - one of the largest ever found in Canada - was unearthed at our Diavik diamond mine in the Northwest Territories of Canada. It’s only the 5th yellow diamond over 100 carats discovered at Diavik in 22 years, making it an exceptionally rare find. "This 2-billion-year-old natural Canadian diamond is a miracle of nature and testament to the skill and fortitude of all the men and women who work in Diavik's challenging sub-Arctic environment," Matt Breen, Chief Operating Officer at Diavik Diamond Mine, says. 🔎 Swipe through to see this extraordinary gem up close. #Diavik #Mining

Working with our suppliers is one of the best ways that we can positively impact the communities where we operate. When we buy goods and services, we aim to find better ways to create sustainable value in partnership with our suppliers. To help our suppliers meet our standards for sourcing goods and services responsibly, we have updated our Supplier Code of Conduct, raising the bar for health and safety, business integrity, respect for others and the environment, and effective due diligence. “By working together to meet these standards, we are building a future that we can all be proud of,” Head of Global Procurement Jamie Sanders said. #FindingBetterWays #Procurement #Suppliers
