National Water Week gives us the opportunity to highlight how our innovation-led solutions are helping improve access to water in communities near our operations. In the Northern Cape, the water team from our Kumba Iron Ore’s business, Kolomela Mine, partnered with the Tsantsabane Municipality to support informal settlements near Postmasburg – areas where formal water infrastructure is limited. Together, they drilled new boreholes, installed emergency water storage tanks and established bulk water meters and reticulation systems to help bring water closer to where it’s needed most. Not only do these improvements support health, dignity and resilience in our host communities, but they also help create the conditions for consistent, sustainable operations, ensuring we can continue delivering the mineral resources that support long-term development. #NationalWaterWeek2025 #WaterStewardship

For the recent #WorldWaterDay we're highlighting the incredible work of our team in Chile, who are part of the Integrated Water Security Project (IWSP). Water availability is a key sustainability challenge for Chile’s copper mining industry, so innovation around water usage is crucial. A key aim of the #IWSP is to achieve zero intake of fresh water by 2030 making a significant contribution towards reaching our 2030 target: a 50% reduction in fresh water usage for operations in water-scarce regions.
