    I've cracked the Sell me this Pen test. Guaranteed to get you hired or kicked out! An early exit, is as good as an early win. Any self-respecting salesman knows that the Sell me this Pen test is asked by mediocre managers trying to look authoritive. It's beneath contempt. It's purpose is to get you to intellectually convince them for the pen. The test demonstrates a gross misunderstanding of sales. Any decent salesman knows selling is about emotion! STICK TO YOUR INSTINCTS Use this moment to be bold and brave. Show them that selling is about emotion. My answer will divide opinion between the gets and the don't gets. Now, sell me this 🖊 P.S.     What do doctors and salesmen have in common? If they prescribe before they diagnose, they're guilty of malpractice. Yet, most sales folk are guilty of: 1. Pushing their product on anyone 2. Overpromising what they do 3. Talking more than listening 4. Exaggerating what they do 5. Glossing over key details 6. Adding sweeteners 7. Under delivering Would you want a doctor like this? No. You'd be in shock. And he'd get sued. A doctor needs to ask a lot of questions: 1. How long has this been going on for? 2. Is this the first time it's happened? 3. How have you tried to fix it? 4. Why didn't that work? 5. Did you try this? 6. And then? He might not give you what you want. But, he'll give you what works. Sales folk need to be more like doctors. Listening. Asking. Challenging. Prospect will trust you more. You'll get better sales. P.S. What do you think turns off a prospect the most? #makesalesmengreatagain

    LinkedIn gurus say you don't need a website. Yet all of them have one. Funny that eh? Let me ask you a question... The last time you considered hiring someone, did you check their website? Of course, you did. You wanted the full scoop on: - If they really could fix your problem - Examples of their previous work - Who've they worked with - Their services & prices - Banging reviews You're not going to throw money at someone without a little due diligence. So the next time a LinkedIn guru says... "Your LinkedIn profile is your landing page" "You only need good content to sell" "Do more inbox outreach" Pause, and remember your own buying habits. P.S. Do you get annoyed if a website has no pricing?

    4 years ago, I lost all my clients overnight. (But, this cardboard box changed my life) - I was an in-house sales trainer - My diary was full to the brim - I was making good money But then lockdown swept the country. - I lost all my business in one night - Invoices stopped getting paid - My now full diary evaporated Like many of us, I was panicking. I'm a father. I had rent to pay. Mouths to feed. So, I realised I had to run my bootcamps online. - I rushed to get my dusty old laptop - The camera couldn't see my ugly mug - I propped it up with a random cardboard box. That box has sat under my laptop for the last 4 years. It's helped me make over $2M in sales. I still work on it every day. To remind me how it all started. It was me, a laptop, and this box. P.S.     "Burn all your marketing down!" (this is what I actually said to a client) Look, as someone who's wasted £100,000s on marketing, I have one big rule: Your marketing should be working in 30 days. ↳ If it’s not, set it on fire → Start again. In my experience... The things that work well, work in 30 days or less. The things that don't, keep burning your pockets. So, when a marketing agency is telling you: “It's a long-term strategy” “We have to invest more” “We need more testing” They’re talking bollocks. Yes, invest in marketing (as you should). But if you're not seeing results soon, stop trying. Period. 30 days max. Or set it ablaze! P.S. What's the last thing you set on fire?

    Making your own website is bloody pointless. Freelancers do these 3 things without a doubt: - Waste over 80 hours f**king around with web design - Waste around £200/year on a Wix membership - Waste sales with terrible conversion rates And that’s fine... Because literally ALL freelancers do this. But it doesn’t have to be like that. And what 99% of freelancers don’t realise? You don’t even NEED a full website. All you need is a landing page that: - Shows exactly what you do clearly - Has incredible sales copy to convert ideal customers - Gives ideal customers a no brainer call to action Combine that with a lead magnet… 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘧𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘴 P.S. Most freelancers have a bulls**t website that basically reads like a CV from 1994. It’s boring, outdated and pointless. Get to the point with a landing page. Get sales.

    If your website builds trust you will sell more. But, trust building is not: → Logos of big brands → A "mission statement" video → Pictures of your team in generic poses You did these things to appear sophisticated. Or bigger than you really are. But, I promise you. They are hurting you. Trust building is: → A headline that paints your prospects future → A free offer to prove you can fix their problems → A video testimonial that tells the whole story All of these focus on your ideal clients. Not you. So, quit talking about how great your company is. And start talking about your ideal clients. P.S. What's your biggest ick on a website?
