As renewable energy sources continue to reshape the energy landscape, it's crucial to understand how these changes affect #gridstability. Our paper highlights the shift from traditional passive approaches to real-time measurement and how real-time data becomes a pressing necessity once renewables surpass 30% of annual output ⚙️ We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Duncan Burt and Professor Pierluigi Mancarella for their invaluable contributions to this paper. On 18 February 2025, the Japanese government approved its 7th Strategic Energy Plan, reinforcing its commitment to achieving #carbonneutrality by 2050. A key pillar of the Plan is the projection that renewable energy will contribute 40-50% of Japan’s power generation by 2040, overtaking thermal power as the dominant energy source. This ambitious shift, however, brings significant #gridstability challenges. The Plan recognises issues such as intermittency, variability, and regional imbalances in renewable generation, which pose risks to grid reliability. Building on the momentum from our recent #MorningPitch in Japan with Deloitte Touche Venture Support, our Executive Sales Director APAC, Andrea Powley will be visiting Tokyo from April 14 to 18 to engage directly with energy operators and explore partnership opportunities.
