Pets As Therapy (PAT) is a national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of thousands of people in communities across the UK. We strive to ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstances, has access to the companionship of an animal. Our volunteers and their friendly pets visit establishments such as care homes, hospitals, hospices, schools and prisons, and bring smiles to many faces. People of all ages get the chance to chat to someone — and stroke and cuddle a dog or cat.

The look of love 💛🐾 Residents in care homes may suffer from ill health and can sometimes experience loneliness, depression and anxiety-related conditions. Feeling isolated from family members and having a lack of motivation or sense of purpose, a friendly PAT visit is a chance for residents to chat and reminisce about past experiences or much-loved pets. We're heading to new heights with our amazing charity partners, Vetnique | Home of YuMOVE! They’ve organised an incredible hike to the summit of Mt Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), climbing over 1,000 metres and covering a distance of 15km. The power of a Pets As Therapy visit 💛
‘Dad’s recovery is so boosted by Roger and Kimmy. We’re really privileged and grateful to Roger spending his time with us and sharing the beautiful Kimmy. She inspires and motivates my dad and all the patients she sees.’ Hazel and her dad, Mike, met Kimmy and her owner Roger at University Hospital Southampton NHS FT, after Mike suffered a stroke. As soon as Mike was able to take his first steps with his walking frame, Kimmy gently supported him on his way with the help of the rehab team. Kimmy and Roger often volunteer at hospital supporting patients with the help of their rehab team. Roger said ‘We have been working at the hospital for nearly five years. Before that Kimmy was a Guide Dog but was dismissed because of a hand dryer phobia in public loos! She's very special.’ Well done to Kimmy, Roger and the therapy team.

Bringing you some certified Good Bois ™️ to clear away any Monday blues 🐾 It was great to welcome Ted, Rollo, Jules, Max, Toto, and Hattie from Pets As Therapy to our ECC campus last week! The furry friends were very well received by our construction and motor vehicle students - we're already counting down the days to their next visit 👀
