Following the close of our Series A fundraise earlier this year, team Origen has gone straight to work. Last week, Origen visited the Energy & Environmental Research Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota where the two organizations are collaborating to build a large-scale demonstration of Origen's direct-air-capture technology. About us
Origen was founded by preeminent thinkers in carbon removal and industrial technology, who believed in the power of limestone to permanently sequester CO2 and reverse the impacts of climate change. They developed the first iteration of Origen's technology and proved that our concept for limestone-based direct air capture (DAC) could be used to remove billions of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere. Over the last several years, Origen has built an industrial scale pilot, R&D facility, and commercial partnerships with industry leaders to develop the next generation of DAC. With DAC and carbon removal now considered “inevitable” to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change, Origen’s next phase of growth will create a lasting impact by removing CO2 directly from the air at meaningful scale.

We're looking for a Lab Technician to join our thriving R&D team based out of our Technology Centre in Bristol! 🎉 We're developing Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology which harnesses the natural power of lime to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. Exciting News! Today, Origen announced the closing of its $13 million Series A fundraise led by Barclays Climate Ventures. The round also includes participation from Shell Ventures, Exascale Fund (exa.vc), Elemental Impact and Hatch, bringing together backing from a balanced consortium of stakeholders focused on deployment of Origen’s direct air capture technology. The funding directly supports Origen’s previously announced demonstration at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) in North Dakota and scale-up project with Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation at the Pelican DAC Hub in Louisiana.
