This #ConstructionSkillsShortageWeek, we're resharing eye opening stats about the true reality of the skills shortage that our industry is currently faced with. We need to close the gap between the need for skilled tradespeople and looming housing demands. These stats came from our white paper https://lnkd.in/eMxF8BP9 which is supported by our Tradebrain members 🤝

It's no secret that the skills shortage crisis in the construction industry is significantly worsening. Construction Market Outlook report suggests that 225,000 more construction workers will be needed by 2027 to meet demand levels for the upcoming pipeline. The demand for recruiting new skilled workers and improving skilled worker retention is becoming ever more apparent. According to On The Tools research, a staggering 47% of employers who currently employ or have formerly employed apprentices have encountered challenges in recruiting skilled workers, 48% also struggled with retaining skilled workers. Currently, a large proportion of current and former apprentices believed that one factor that would have improved their experience was more hands-on work. Thank you to our Tradebrain members, who allow us to support businesses and apprentices with free resources like the one below which provides 5 ways to support a new construction apprentice👇 #ConstructionSkillsShortageWeek

A massive well done to Construction Sport for completing their 300 mile cycle from Somerset to Suffolk, raising an incredible £22,000 in support of mental health in construction.👏 73% of tradespeople surveyed by On The Tools reported that they are experiencing mental ill health or have done so in the past. It is crucial that as an industry, we work together to get these numbers down and provide a better experience for tradespeople who have been impacted by mental health. This is why fundraisers such as this one play such a fundamental role in raising awareness to the cause. Follow the link to see how you can get involved 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5gzK6Dw

We're proud to have supported some of the incredible tool marking events across the UK over the past few weeks 🛠️ 🔬 Coming together as an industry is vital to create better outcomes for victims of tool theft, and ultimately reducing the rate of thefts. Big mentions especially to Shoaib Awan, who has been instrumental in the success of these events. SelectaDNA, providing innovative equipment to help repatriation of tools, and to Dave Catlow and team at Metropolitan Police for the continued support toward the construction community.

How can we act to ensure stolen tools get returned back to their owners? 💭 Only a staggering 1% of tools are ever returned to their owners. Just 17% of tradespeople from our recent survey said they had their tools marked, so we’ve been supporting the Met Police, as well as other marking events across the country in getting as many tools marked as possible. We’re proud to be giving away some of our sponsored SelectaDNA kits today, allowing for 100’s of tools to be marked. Let’s move the needle on the number of tools we can get back to their rightful owners🛠️

🛠️ Only 1% of stolen tools are ever fully recovered, according to On The Tools research. So, this month, On The Tools has been visiting tool marking events across the UK to find out more about the latest in forensic marking. Here's how the SelectaDNA tool marking kit helps tradespeople recover their stolen tools: - A unique DNA code will be marked and sprayed on to your tools, allowing police to identify your property and link the criminals to the crime - The DNA is kept on a secure database, accessible 24/7 - SelectaDNA property markers contain thousands of microdots, allowing police to instantly identify property. UV tracers are also incorporated in SelectaDNA, making it easy for police to find thieves. Stamp out tool theft with us.
