Nature4Climate aims to increase action on natural climate solutions in support of the 2015 Paris climate agreement.

About us

Nature4Climate is a multi-organization strategic communications platform to help raise the profile of natural climate solutions and catalyse action on the ground. Natural climate solutions are proven ways of storing and reducing carbon emissions in the world’s forests, grasslands and wetlands, and better stewardship of the land also has impact on other critical environmental, social and economic benefits, which are less well understood. These solutions are available immediately, are scalable and can transform key sectors of the global economy, such as forestry and agriculture – and they are available almost everywhere on the planet. Despite the fundamental science being very well understood, action on land use remains much underused as a climate strategy – lacking the funding and attention that has helped kickstart the energy transition. We use creative communications and advocacy to influence international climate policy, national government policy, and private sector action on implementing natural climate solutions between now and 2023. We bring together voices from governments, IGOs and NGOs, and business – underpinned by a steering group with communications and advocacy representation currently from CBD, CI, TNC, the UNDP, WHRC, WRI and WWF.

  • There is no climate or economic solution without nature. Governments must incorporate nature into policy, and businesses and investors must recognize the economic opportunities of preserving and restoring ecosystems. 🍀 Today, the Nature4Climate coalition is excited to announce the launch of its new unbranded campaign: ➡ WITH NATURE. A flexible platform, the new campaign calls out to diverse sectors to take action and advocate for nature´s agency in tackling the climate and biodiversity crises as they reach a turning point. Together, we can LEAD WITH NATURE. We now nominate Crowther Lab | ETH Zurich to join us in this campaign and share their commitment to act with nature. #WithNature #ClimateAction

🛰️ 🌳 How should remote sensing be applied to carbon projects? 🌳 🛰️ Announcing the launch of TNC's latest guide, The Nature-Based Credit Science Decoder Series: Remote Sensing! This comprehensive resource delves into the latest scientific advancements in remote sensing technologies and their applications to Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) project initiation, baseline assessment, and impact monitoring.   Why is this important ❓ Carbon accounting methods that prioritize scientific best practices are essential for rigorous carbon crediting. While decades of research have significantly improved the quality of carbon credits, ongoing advancements in technology continue to enhance project accounting. Our new guide provides an overview of these advancements and discusses various concepts, platforms, tools, and data sources.   Who will benefit❓ This guide is designed to help buyers of high-quality carbon credits evaluate the rigor of carbon market service providers, such as ratings agencies and third-party monitoring services. It also serves as a valuable resource for assessing whether carbon market tools and projects are effectively deploying scientifically sound methodologies and approaches.   Check out The Nature-Based Credit Science Decoder Series: Remote Sensing! https://lnkd.in/dK3xPizc Kudos to the authors: Judith Ament, PhD, Kurt Fesenmyer, Samantha Yeo

  • Animals worldwide are threatened by climate change, experiencing habitat loss, food scarcity, and disrupted reproduction. Biodiversity is essential for ecosystem balance and climate regulation. Healthy ecosystems absorb carbon dioxide, provide clean air and water, and enhance resilience against climate impacts. The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) has listed 16 species most threatened in 2024. Here are a few examples: 🐟 Chinook Salmon: Struggling with rising ocean temperatures and reduced freshwater streams. 🪸 Corals: Suffering from mass bleaching and ocean acidification. 🐸 Golden Toad: Extinct due to changing weather patterns disrupting their reproductive cycles. 🐻❄️ Polar Bears: Losing their icy habitats and struggling to find food. 🦋 Monarch Butterflies: Facing habitat loss and changing migration patterns. 🔗 You can check the full list here: https://lnkd.in/d9GMyvaR Photo: © US Fish and Wildlife Service

Decision-makers, nature teams, and any internal champions in the public/private sectors: the Nature Tech community is here to support you in your nature positive transformation. Last week, we attended the first-ever Nature Tech Summit in London, a new event that brought together innovative solutions for nature-positive outcomes. As part of Nature Tech Week (March 24-28, 2025), this summit represented another step in connecting technology with nature action. Five key insights emerged: 1️⃣ NatureTech technology is on the rise. The convergence of in-situ technologies, Earth Observation and AI is exponentiating our ability to address land-use problems globally and we see the surge of a new tech sector in front of our eyes. 2️⃣ While technology is increasingly efficient and reliable, we must focus on addressing the main problem: the extractive use of nature at the expense of those communities that steward it and of our long-term prosperity. That requires deeper changes and more systemic approaches than just building technology. We need to redefine our relationship to nature in two ways: First, we need to awaken to the deep interconnections and interrelationships of all life. Ostara, co-founded by Nicole Schwab strives to reconnect people to nature and empower decision-makers to rebuild and retool our economy in service of life. They re-commit the economy to deeper values. Then, we need to use technology to manifest the value of nature in our economic systems - and allow it to be investible as something of value, as we do at The Landbanking Group. We re-instate nature as economic value. 3️⃣ The Nature Tech community is embracing collaboration over competition - a recurring theme that was strongly reinforced throughout the summit as companies actively share resources, data, and expertise to accelerate environmental solutions. “When your VCs ask for a competitor map, show them a collaborator map”. See the emerging landscape here: https://lnkd.in/diTxbB7C 4️⃣ Nature Tech is ready to serve as a catalyst for today's nature-related challenges, and to serve as the economy’s most critical derisking mechanism when nature’s “Minsky Moment” strikes. For more info about nature’s “Minsky Moment”, read this article https://lnkd.in/dSBGdGD9 5️⃣Our simple CTA: decision-makers, nature teams, and any internal champions in the public/private sectors - at whatever point you are on that nature positive transition, the nature tech community is here to help. There is still an education gap across every economic sector with exposure to nature, and our community is happy to provide clarity, sensemaking, and immediate actionable support. Thank you, Nature4Climate, Nature Tech Collective and CE Events & Media for hosting a great event. There was take-off in the air. Let's not waste the opportunity.
