Wildfarmed is on a mission to ‘transform lunches and landscapes’. It’s also transforming plates at Levy, too. 🌾 Since partnering with this fabulous regenerative food and farming business two years ago, we have worked with Wildfarmed to roll out its delicious regenerative flour across our supply chain. This is part of Levy’s ambitious sustainability strategy to switch a range of ingredients to lower carbon, more sustainable, higher welfare alternatives. Now Levy’s preferred flour comes from Wildfarmed and a range of Wildfarmed buns for Levy’s hand-held products like chicken burgers and hotdogs have also been developed and these have been rolling out from the start of this year. “Change starts when industry leaders step up - not just with words, but with action. Our partnership with Levy is proof of system change in motion,” says Wildfarmed Co-Founder Edd Lees. Read more about our powerful partnership by clicking the link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eaAFuVGF

Their artistry, combined with the contributions of nearly 45 additional chefs, including 18 from Levy, created a truly engaging experience for all diners. Today, we observe World Down Syndrome Day, a globally recognised occasion dedicated to elevating the voices of individuals with Down Syndrome. This day emphasises their crucial contributions to our communities and advocates for their full and meaningful participation in all aspects of life. Our Regional Executive Chef for London, Mark Reynolds, who is also the esteemed National Chairman of The Craft Guild of Chefs, has worked closely with the Down's Syndrome Association (DSA) for a few years now and wanted to create an event – the Craft Guild of Chefs Chairman's Dinner – to raise vital funds and increase awareness of their impactful initiatives, including the WorkFit programme. The event took place at Westminster Kingsway earlier this month, and Harry Sapsford, our Apprentice Chef, whom Mark employed at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, was in the kitchen helping cook a 7-course meal for 110 guests. Harry is also a valued participant in WorkFit, which connects employers with capable job seekers who have Down syndrome. The Chairman's Dinner successfully raised over ten thousand pounds for the DSA, contributing significantly to their ongoing mission. The DSA provides essential support to thousands of individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout England and Wales. The organisation is recognised as a centre of excellence for comprehensive Down syndrome-related resources. Mark Reynolds commented: “I'm over the moon that this event raised £10,000 for the Down Syndrome Association. Working with the DSA is one of my career highlights. It's a pleasure to watch Harry's progress in his apprenticeship at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. HIT Training have been excellent in tailoring their apprenticeship programme to include 1-2-1 sessions, so they deserve credit for collaborating with The DSA.” Well done, Mark, Harry, and all involved on a superb event!

How does a food catering company as big as Levy effectively use data to drive ambitious sustainable action? 📈 🌍 “I think that Levy – more than any others - has really embraced the power of LCAs to better understand their environmental impact,” Foodsteps Co-Founder and Managing Director Anya Doherty told an audience at London’s Excel this week. Doherty was hosting the ‘Driving Sustainable Action Through Data’ panel at this week’s HRC joined by Levy Sustainability Director Kevin Watson and E15 Insights Sustainability Data Lead, Andrew Jones, to chew over Levy’s carbon accounting journey to date. Covering the highs lows and data challenges of Scope 3 reporting, Watson and Jones praised Foodsteps for helping them navigate the complicated process of accurate and robust reporting. Andrew Jones explained Levy’s ambition to move from a spend-based to a volume-based emissions assessment that can give better strategic insight, as well as challenges in ensuring its data is as rigorous and complete as possible. Watson, who has been steering an ambitious programme of sustainability change across Levy since 2022, reminded the audience that “our supply chain is a massive part of who we are”, citing examples of how carbon impact data has informed business decisions. 🌊 Levy’s decision to roll out Notpla's seaweed-based packaging across its business after LCA data showed the packaging has up to a 70% reduction in emissions compared with conventional plastic alternatives. 🦌 Data on the relative difference in carbon impact between beef and Wild Venison has prompted it to champion this lean and clean nutritionally dense red meat, reducing spend on more carbon intensive beef and lamb. With a greater focus on data going forward, Levy continues to sustainable change across its business – viewing sustainability through an optic of environment, nature and health. 🌱 🌍 Thank you Foodsteps for inviting us to take part in the panel – we had a wonderful time at the HRC and are super proud to be working with you!

We are welcoming the Spring equinox today as we celebrate Levy’s powerful partnership with Sapling Spirits | B Corp! “Transitioning to a more sustainable landscape means making it truly multi-functional,” says Dr Vincent Walsh, Levy’s newly appointed Director of Decarbonisation. “That goes far beyond traditional sheep grazing, which was once the norm on this farm.” Enter the humble apple tree, alongside the fantastic team from Sapling Spirits, who recently joined Levy staff in North Yorkshire to plant a diverse range of apple trees, including a rare variety dating back to 1700, on our co-sponsored Biohub. 🌳 Why? To celebrate Levy’s powerful partnership with the climate-positive spirits brand, launched last year. Sapling, which plants a tree for every bottle sold, champions regenerative farming and uses British wheat—aligning with key pillars of Levy’s sustainability strategy to support British regenerative agriculture, partner with innovative, sustainable businesses and supporting nature-based climate projects “I don’t think we have any other partners the size of Levy who take sustainability this seriously—and that scale means real impact,” says Ed Faulkner, Co-Founder of Sapling Spirits. We were honoured to welcome The Prince and Princess of Wales (THR) to Principality Stadium at the weekend. Our CEO, Jonathan Davies, alongside Notpla's co-founder Rodrigo García González, had the privilege of discussing with THR advancements being made in addressing plastic waste within stadiums. The visit highlighted our strong partnership with Notpla and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, one of the three major stadiums in Wales with whom we partner. Thanks to this collaboration, we are set to eliminate over 750,000 single-use plastic items annually from Principality Stadium, Cardiff City Football Club, and the Swansea.com Stadium. The switch is expected to prevent 1.4 tonnes of plastic waste per year from being created and entering the waste stream. Our partnership with Notpla is instrumental in reducing plastic waste and minimising our carbon footprint on a large scale. Over the last 12 months, Levy sites have successfully transitioned to Notpla’s innovative seaweed-based, compostable packaging at some of the world’s most renowned venues, including Villa Park, The O2, Allianz Stadium, The Kia Oval, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. We remain committed to fostering sustainable practices in our operations, driving positive change at scale within the industry and beyond. 🌊 🌍
