🫶 Huge thank you to the American Concrete Institute and the ACI - Section du Québec et de l'Est de l'Ontario for the hospitality at the Spring Convention in Toronto last week. 📜 It was an award winning visit for the ICT with further recognition of the growing relationship with ACI given to the Chair of our Technical & Educational Committee, Robert Lewis. Rob has been instrumental in establishing and developing this relationship and was deservedly given a Certificate of Appreciation for his 6 years of service to the ACI Education Activities Committee and also a certificate for the service of 3 years on the Board of Direction. 🎁 Our President, Colin Nessfield FICT presented a 50 year history of the ICT and a Yearbook 2024 to Fouad Yazbeck as we look to further our relationship with concrete enthusiasts in the Middle East. 🥳 The final event of the Convention was the Presidents Reception and our Past President Muhammed Basheer was busy networking with new ACI President Maria Juenger, ACI Past President Charles N. and Kamal Khayat amongst others. #Concrete #America #Canada #Convention #Networking

👏👏👏 Congratulations Maria Juenger and best wishes for your term as President. We look forward to continuing our good relations with the American Concrete Institute and enhancing the "experience" of all concrete enthusiasts together. Michael Paul had an excellent term in office and the set the scene for hard work with fun times. We look forward to your visit to our Convention in Dublin for more of the same 😊
I am honored and excited to begin a one year term as President of the American Concrete Institute. I appreciate the words of support from everyone at the convention in Toronto this week. I hope to serve ACI well and thank Michael Paul for being a good friend, advisor, and role model (though I can't hope to match his selfie game). #ACIPresident

🇺🇸🇨🇦We are extremely pleased to have invited representation at the American Concrete Institute Spring Convention in Toronto with our President, Colin Nessfield FICT, Executive Officer Edwin Trout and Vice President John Reddy in attendance along with many other ICT members. Here is a midterm report of the first two days activities. 📜 A huge highlight has been The ICT receiving "The Strategic Advancement Award" from ACI President Michael Paul for the long standing partnership of the ICT with ACI and the drive to develop training and certification of concrete technicians on a wider global outreach. 🤳 We even stole a "selfie" on stage with the "king of selfies", Michael Paul 😜 👏 Congratulations to Honorary Fellow of the ICT Khaled Awad for receiving the highest possible recognition from the ACI as an Honorary Lifetime Member. 👨💼 Events kicked off on Sunday morning with John Reddy giving an update on ICT activities at the International Forum hosted by ACI Vice President Maria Juenger. Robert Lewis then welcomed delegates to the International Lunch with a fantastic technical presentation by guest speakers on the Gordie Howe bridge project connecting Canada and America. This is the longest cable stay bridge in North America! 🥳 Fun times were had on Monday to recognise Robert Lewis and his dedication to both ICT and ACI with a gathering in lieu of this retirement later this year. 🎉 🥳 And even more fun and educational times as a series of four technical sessions honouring ICT Honorary Fellow Doug Hooton on Monday was capped of with a fabulous reception in the evening where we met another ICT Honorary Fellow, Karen Scrivener. Yesterday I had the honour of being presented with the 2025 Gustavo Colonnetti medal, one of RILEM Association's and industry’s highest accolades awarded to individuals who have made outstanding scientific contributions to the field of construction materials and structures. Looking back at the journey so far, which is highly interdisciplinary, it feels overwhelming where interest and curiosity can get you but very little would have been achieved if it weren’t for all the wonderful colleagues, mentors, friends and collaborators I had the privilege to meet and work with. There are many I should acknowledge, and I got the chance to do so for some during my Colonnetti lecture during the RILEM Spring Convention in Mendrisio, Switzerland. Thanks to all who have made this journey so fascinating and of course to RILEM Association for honouring me with the medal.
