📣 We're back! The Neville Centre's First Spring Seminar for 2025. Our first seminar is entitled "Closing the concrete loop”, and our guest speaker is: Prof. Theodore Hanein, Chair in Construction Materials Science at the School of Civil Engineering, University of Leeds and a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow on Green, Circular, and Smart Cement Manufacture. Following his two UG degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Balamand in Lebanon, Theo graduated from the The University of Manchester with a Masters in Advanced Process Design and Integration, and then from the University of Aberdeen (2016) with a PhD in Cement/Clinker Thermochemistry. He then began working at the The University of Sheffield on low-carbon cement, where he was promoted twice from postdoc to assistant professor and then associate professor, before joining University of Leeds. About us
The aim of the Neville Centre is to facilitate solutions for both industry and academia in the area of cement and concrete design engineering. The Centre will focus on developing the links between current material experts working at the nano- and micro-structure scale and those working on long-term macroscale design performance, with the aim of enhancing both traditional and innovation-led design. The Centre will maximise industrial involvement and ensure a productive dialogue between fundamental research and practical application.
