In a landmark step towards a clean power energy future for Great Britain, Ofgem has approved our reforms to streamline the connections process. This will enable us to prioritise the connection of projects ready to deliver clean power to our homes, businesses, transport and more and unlock a £40 billion annual investment opportunity to drive economic growth. Our reform proposals are a product of extensive collaboration with industry stakeholders, Ofgem, and Government and highlights a collective commitment across the energy industry to evolve the connections process to deliver clean, secure, and affordable energy to homes, businesses, and communities across Great Britain. For many of our hydrogen projects, the grid connection process is a limiting factor to the pace at which they can progress which is why we're thrilled to see the publication of Ofgem's final decision on the connections reform. We need to make things quicker, easier and more cost effective for project developers. If we can do that then we can make the UK one of the very best places in the world to invest in hydrogen.
We're introducing the most radical changes in a generation to the way projects connect to the electricity grid. These reforms will replace a broken ‘first come, first served’ system which has caused delays of up to 15 years to secure connections, holding back investment and growth. The new system will prioritise connections for the projects that are most viable and that will help us reach clean power by 2030. More info: https://lnkd.in/evNYkRMv

Great to welcome Minister for Industry Sarah Jones to the BOC stand yesterday, at this year's Hydrogen UK Annual Conference! It was a pleasure discussing how BOC is contributing to the UK's clean energy ambitions through our hydrogen offering. We also compared notes on the future opportunities that hydrogen represents for the UK economic growth story, as well as in terms of jobs and skills. During her visit, the minister also met Megan Backhouse and learned about her work on industrial fuel switching trials, as well as her contributions to hydrogen safety and STEM.
