We're the government’s housing and regeneration agency. We help create affordable, quality homes and drive regeneration.
About us
As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we believe affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. We help make this happen by combining our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and build more quality homes. We achieve this by forming long-term partnerships that bridge the public and private sectors and by using our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed. We also use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting building safety. Together, with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country. However, our ambitious and exciting agenda can only be achieved through collaboration and commitment. Whatever your role in the built environment, we’re your partner in housing and regeneration and we’re here to help. We’re the #HousingAndRegenerationAgency. Following the publication of the government’s Levelling Up White Paper, Homes England has also been tasked with a core role in spearheading regeneration, partnering with places to reduce economic disparity, empower local leaders and create equal opportunities across the country to ensure communities reach their full potential.

The Affordable Homes Programme (AHP) helps to support the development of much needed affordable housing across England. Last week, Director of Affordable Housing Shahi Islam visited Union Village in Middlesbrough, a new development of 145 affordable homes that people can be proud to live in. 🏠🔑 Read more about how our strategic partner Thirteen Group delivered the development: https://lnkd.in/e8fZ_SJh #AffordableHomes #WeAreHomesEngland
🗣️ "Ultimately, we are building homes for people that need them, and so when you come to see these homes with people already living in them, and see how happy they are, it really does make your job worthwhile." The thoughts of Homes England Director of Affordable Housing, Shahi Islam, during our recent event to unveil the new Union Village development in Gresham, Middlesbrough. It was a real pleasure to host Shahi alongside representatives from the scheme's other partners - Middlesbrough Council, Tees Valley Combined Authority, and Esh Group. What could the future of sustainable housing look like? 🌱🏠 In partnership with Homes England, our Greener Homes Alliance has supported SME developers in delivering over 550 energy-efficient homes across the UK. With financial support and incentives, we’re enabling high EPC-rated housing that benefits both people and the planet. Our latest project in Blackheath is a prime example. With ground-source heat pumps, solar panels, and green roofs, it demonstrates how innovative design can lower energy costs, reduce emissions, and enhance long-term sustainability. But we’re not stopping here. We’re exploring new ways to raise the standard for sustainable housing, from water efficiency to improving community wellbeing – ensuring the homes we fund today are fit for the future. Last week, members of the Agency’s Affordable Housing team had the opportunity to visit Union Village, a new development in Middlesbrough. Funded by the Affordable Homes Programme (AHP), Union Village will provide vital affordable housing in the form of 145 new homes. We thank all partners for their continued support and collaboration in bringing schemes such as this one to life, and Thirteen Group for inviting the Agency to the unveiling event. #WeAreHomesEngland #AffordableHomes
We spent a few minutes perfecting "the walking shot" during today's event to unveil the first new homes at our Union Village development in central Middlesbrough. Those present got the chance to take a look inside the various property types, as well as an outdoor communal space for use by residents (and the ideal shape and dimensions for "the walking shot"). There were informative videos and speeches from Jane Earl, Matt Forrest, Shahi Islam and Chris Cooke. It was also a chance to say a huge thank you to our partners Middlesbrough Council, Homes England, Tees Valley Combined Authority, and Esh Group - without them, none of this would have been possible. Union Village will bring 145 two, three and four-bedroom homes to a site off Union Street in Gresham, consisting of a mix of houses, apartments and bungalows.
