What’s driving the shift? Improving macro conditions, resilient operator performance, and a growing push from PE and long-term capital to deploy funds. Strategics are leading the way, but IPOs and direct investments are opening new exit routes—and the pressure to transact is rising. Luz Saúde’s potential sale — the Portuguese healthcare market is mature, but opportunities exist. Despite a broader M&A slowdown in Portugal in 2024, industry experts tell HBI that healthcare, especially elderly care, diagnostics, and outpatient services, remains resilient and attractive to investors. Many thanks to Fabio Ruffinoni (Candesic) and Francisco Montenegro (Bain & Company) for sharing their insights. Read the article here on Healthcare Business International: https://lnkd.in/ecZmGQAr

Last week at #HBI2025, Ángel Manotas, Managing Director at Alantra Private Equity, joined a panel discussion moderated by Rakshitha Narasimhan (Healthcare Business International) alongside Dr. Marco MAZEVET (Candesic), Sara Dalmasso (Straumann Group), Neil Carmichael (The Association of Dental Groups), and Anni Seaborne (Bupa Dental Care UK) to explore how investment in oral healthcare can drive better health outcomes and reduce costs. Alantra Private Equity has been actively investing in the sector, acquiring multiple dental laboratories to build Digitaldent, the second-largest dental laboratory group in Spain. The dental market remains highly fragmented, presenting significant opportunities for consolidation, efficiency gains, and technological advancements. AI and digitalization are transforming the industry, enhancing diagnostics, streamlining workflows, and improving patient care. With strong sector tailwinds and increasing demand, oral healthcare presents a compelling investment opportunity. Many thanks for having us, #HBI2025!

Last week at #HBI2025, our journalist Rakshitha Narasimhan met with Angelika Schöchlin, Managing Partner at Antin Infrastructure Partners. See below for more details: #Healthcare #HealthcareInvestment #AI #Conference #Paris
Angelika Schöchlin, Managing Partner at Antin Infrastructure Partners, brought her expertise to the stage at Healthcare Business International’s annual conference, in Paris dedicated this year to “Disruptive innovation – Investing in healthcare transformation.” In a keynote plenary session and an onsite video interview, Angelika highlighted that healthcare is an essential service and “private investors can add a lot of value in providing capital and more efficient services, and hence more cost-efficient services to the ultimate payer.” She also said that IA and digitalization are “the future for efficiency of the healthcare system and we need to work on it.” Angelika also highlighted the impressive work of Davide Tavaniello and Rodolfo Guarino, the co-founders of Hippocrates Holding S.p.A., who presented how they built the largest independent pharmacy network in Italy. Angelika stressed there is more growth to come: “They own 500 pharmacies in a market of 19,0000. You do the math. There’s a lot of room to grow in this market,” she said. The event also featured a compelling session on investing in the UK and Ireland during which Anita Andrews of Kisimul Group Limited provided valuable insights into the investment landscape. #Healthcare #Pharmacy #InfrastructureInvestment #ValueCreation #Innovation
