It’s an exciting week at fly2help as we gear up for our Gala Dinner this Thursday, hosted at the prestigious RAF Club in London. Despite the event preparations, our team remains hard at work delivering our impactful programmes. Last week, we visited two schools and youth groups with the Travelling Airport, and we also hosted a fantastic Air Smiles Day for twins Jake and Emily at Gloucestershire Airport, with thanks to the generous donations from The Air Charter Association. And so this week, we’re focused on raising vital funds to continue providing these incredible aviation experiences, using the power of aviation to support and inspire those who need us most. We’re grateful for your continued support in making these life-changing experiences possible. #Aviation #fly2help #Fundraising #Inspiration #Community

A charity sharing the love of aviation with our inspirational Aim High events and making memories with Air Smiles Days
About us
fly2help is an aviation charity that inspires positive change through the wonder of flight. Our vision is for everyone to be able to access the positive benefits of aviation. We provide Air Smiles Days - exciting experience days, centred around a short flight in a light aircraft - to people living in difficult situations, including illness, disability, bereavement and isolation. Air Smiles Days aim to bring joy and laughter, create and capture magical memories, boost confidence and self-esteem and offer respite to individuals, families and groups. Aim High showcases all that’s inspirational about the aviation industry to encourage young people to not only consider a future career within the industry but also to be inspired by the uplifting impact of aviation. Fly2help was founded in 2006 by a group of passionate aviators who wanted to use the wonder of flight to bring joy to people who needed a lift, fly2help has been expanding nationally since 2012. We are currently based at 13 airfields throughout England and Wales, and are expanding further with the support of new airfields, volunteers and pilots. fly2help relies on the generosity of volunteer pilots and aircraft owners, volunteer coordinators and fundraisers, airfields, corporate sponsors and donors to make its work possible. To offer your support to the charity, or to nominate someone as a beneficiary, please contact fly2help at info@fly2help.org or www.fly2help.org. It’s an exciting time at the start of each year as our Aim High Programme kicks into gear, helping schools focus on student career support! We’ve already visited several primary and secondary schools, and we’re especially proud to be including SEND schools in our programme. By promoting aviation careers to all young people, we're working to make the industry as inclusive, accessible, and diverse as possible. Last week, we had an incredible 2-day event with the Travelling Airport at a SEND school, introducing over 120 pupils aged 5-16 to the world of aviation. It was a truly immersive experience with fun activities based on life at a busy airport, offering insights into entry-level careers and showing that flying doesn’t have to be intimidating! ✈️🌟 Our thanks to The Air Charter Association whose sponsorship allows us to support so many young people through the power of aviation 🧡💙 #AimHighProgramme #AviationCareers #InclusiveAviation #CareerSupport #SEND #DiversityInAviation #YouthEmpowerment

🌟 What a week it's been! 🌟 This week, we've had the privilege of delivering across a wide range of impactful activities. From an uplifting Air Smiles Day for Harry and his family to a Careers Day for SEND pupils, it’s been full of moments that truly make a difference. ✈️ We also spent 2 full days at The Milestone SEND School in Gloucester, bringing our unique Travelling Airport experience to life. It was incredible to open the doors to the world of aviation, inspiring and motivating young people who need support the most. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do – to support, inspire, and empower the next generation with the backing of our amazing sponsors, The Air Charter Association and Fitzhamon Lodge #aimhigh #airsmiles #AviationForAll #SENDSupport #Inspiration #Motivation #CareersDay #TravellingAirport #MakingADifference #charity

Our Aim High half term programmes are always a highlight of the year, and this February we’ve changed the focus, working with local youth groups supporting children and young people aged 11 to 16 yrs at risk of not realising their full potential. This early intervention programme introduces a practical approach to learning, and by immersing the students in aviation we help to foster aspiration, discipline, teamwork and career ambition. Through a carefully devised programme of activities, including interactive presentations, Flight SIM sessions, team building exercises, practical sessions learning about Air Traffic Control with Global ATS LTD - Aviation Training Services, a look behind the scenes at Weston Aviation and demonstrations from Gloucestershire Airport Fire Crew, we’ve delivered a full schedule of activities designed to inform and inspire the #nextgen Our grateful thanks to BA HighFlight whose generous donation in 2024 has helped sponsor this opportunity, making aviation inclusive and accessible to all! ✈️🚁🧡💙 #aviationcareers #aimhigh #makingadifference #supportingcommunities

Kim Lewington MBE and colleagues from Brazil and Canada discussed inspiring the future generations today at Sustainable Aviation Futures MENA Congress in Abu Dhabi. It was fascinating to learn that attracting new talent into aviation is a global challenge. The stand out message remains that youngsters still need to ‘see it to be it’. Whilst there’s no doubt that those youngsters are tech and social media savvy, enabling them to research 24/7 at the touch of a screen, there’s no substitute for being behind-the-scenes or up close and personal with aviation. The ‘physical’ is what truly inspires. We’re hugely fortunate at our Gloucestershire Airport base to have businesses like Skyborne, Aeros Flight Training, Weston Aviation, Global ATS LTD - Aviation Training Services, RGV Aviation Limited who willingly welcome our #AimHigh students and all of the members of The Air Charter Association who have so generously supported us in making it happen. It’s been a great few days and we’ve made lots of new friends across the world.

Fly2help goes global! Our Ambassador, Kim Lewington MBE, has been invited to speak at the Sustainable Aviation Futures MENA Conference this week in Abu Dhabi. Alongside international colleagues from the Global Aviation and Aerospace Skills Taskforce, the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom’s Fiona Hau (née Douglas) and DFT aviation ambassador #theairportguy, she’ll be discussing how we attract the next generation of aerospace professionals to consider aviation as a sustainable career opportunity. The shortage of new talent in the industry is a worldwide problem and Kim’s experience and expertise in working with youngsters knows no boundaries. We’re proud of the work fly2help has done in the UK to bridge the gap and it’s fantastic that we can now take our message to a global stage.
