After months of hard work in the Florida sunshine, CP33 have landed back in the UK, having successfully completed their Commercial Pilot Licences in Vero Beach, Florida! This group includes the very first British Airways Speedbird Pilot Academy cadets, who are now only a few months away from starting their careers in the BA flight deck after successfully applying to the fully-funded programme in 2023. It was also fantastic to welcome Alex Norman from British Airways to Skyborne last week. Alex oversees the entire selection process for the Speedbird Pilot Academy and plays a crucial role in shaping the future of aspiring pilots. His work opens doors for countless individuals, helping them take their first steps towards their dream career. ✈️

We’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on our very own Nick Heard, who was named Best Sim Instructor at the Pilot Careers Live Professional Flight Training Awards! Nick plays a crucial role in preparing our trainees for their type rating and future airline careers, through the delivery of our multi-pilot training programme, APS-MCC. The judges praised his dedication to both technical skills and professional development, ensuring our trainees meet the high standards expected by our airline partners. Nick’s hard work and commitment don’t go unnoticed, and we’re so proud to have him on the Skyborne team. Here’s to many more future pilots learning from the best! 👏

Continuing our celebration of Skyborne’s award winners, next up is Libby Roebuck, who was named Most Supportive Student at the Pilot Careers Live Professional Flight Training Awards! Libby recently graduated from Skyborne and is about to kickstart her flying career with Loganair Limited, making it even more special that she was presented this award by Loganair’s CEO Luke Farajallah! ✈️ From guiding fellow cadets through training to volunteering with local aviation charity fly2help, Libby’s encouragement and support have made a lasting difference. The judges praised her caring nature and dedication, noting that she’s always lifting others up, whether it's new trainees or her fellow course mates. We couldn’t be prouder of everything Libby has achieved, and we can't wait to see her soar in her new role. Congratulations!

We had a great time at the inaugural Pilot Careers Live Professional Flight Training Awards. It was fantastic to attend the event and even more exciting to take home three awards! 🏆 We will be shining a spotlight on our three incredible Skyborne winners, starting with Matt Cox, who was named Best Flight Instructor! The judges praised Matt’s expert AUPRT training, his approachable style, and his ability to make lessons engaging for our trainees. As per his nomination, all of us at Skyborne agree that Matt is “an outstanding instructor and a fantastic human being”. We’re incredibly proud of Matt and all our instructors who go above and beyond to shape the next generation of pilots. Congratulations Matt!
