Yesterday, the European Parliament gave its approval for the ‘𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸’ proposal, as part of the EU Omnibus simplification. Once the text is legally finalised, the EU member states should have until the end of 2025 to transpose the delays into national law. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗦𝗥𝗗 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴? It is now almost certain that reporting will be delayed by 2 years for wave 2 and 3 (i.e. if you were preparing to report in 2026 for 2025, you will now be required to report in 2028 for 2027. Other omnibus proposals, including the size thresholds for companies in scope, 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 as are more contentious.) 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼? The delay is being implemented to assist companies with preparing for CSRD; therefore, use this time to implement next steps effectively.
