A brilliant bit of news from the previous job @ the Sea Mounting Centre. The new relationship we negotiated with Associated British Ports is now officially tried and tested. Very well done to Richard Parkinson and team at ABP, as well as my old team at HQ Fd Army for proving a new capability. Good luck Deborah Whiston who will take over the SO1 job @ the Sea Mounting Centre in June. I hope you have as much fun in the role as I did. https://lnkd.in/eX3VVbm2

About us
Learn together, devise solutions, and seek innovation in a state-of-the art workspace, making engagement with the defence sector more effortless. Defence does not hold the monopoly on innovation. Many militaries now leverage technologies developed in the commercial sector rather than developing bespoke solutions for their requirements. The BattleLab was born out of the need to embrace uncertainty, pivot in response to rapid global change, and leverage emerging technology faster. At Dorset Innovation Park, the collaborative environment is a partnership between Dorset Council, Defence and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership. A centre for innovators to ideate, fail fast and succeed sooner. #collaborate #ideate #co-create

An uplifting morning at the BattleLab where we discovered this robot and a friend demonstrating how remote operations link with autonomy. The Things Connected breakfast meet-up discussed NTN communications, composites for platforms and how Department for Business and Trade can support organisations in attending trade shows. Join the #UKDSE Export Academy to learn more. For more robotics and opportunities in defence, it’s not too late to register for Ocean Business at the National Oceanography Centre. #ConnectedDevices #RobotsMakeTheSunShine #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement

We achieved two important milestones as a business yesterday, at the South West Regional Defence & Security Cluster event at the fantastic Army Flying Museum. After months of collaboration with cluster members and BattleLab community, we unveiled our NEW UK flight controller fitted in our IP67 rated (fully waterproof!) Delta Tango drone, alongside a proof of concept integration with a wireless charging solution. Together, with potential collaboration with a wind energy organisation in discussion, this kit can be deployed in even the most remotest of locations and do its job in all weathers and dusty conditions. Oh how UAS has changed since the early innovations of yester year! The test and evaluation has been completed on both of these products and Chris Wardman from Copper Turtle gave the audience a sneak peak of the drone and charging solution in action. 'Project Sentry' is an example of the success of regional partnerships, and the work we have achieved demonstrates the key part we now play as one of the Innovation Partners in this project. The supply chain for production of our components will be here in the UK, again, engaging with yet more SME suppliers, truly demonstrating UK Sovereign capability and the importance of SMEs in the supply chain. To top it off, the ruggedised controller on display, also shows our collaboration with yet another SME, MilDef. We are now in a position to offer clients a wide range of cost effective solutions to suit both budget and user need, which we will display at DSEI UK and #DroneX2025 later this year. Huge thanks to Russ COLE and Paul Edwards MBE FRAeS from ESL Group for sponsoring the event, giving Vaspba RPS Ltd the opportunity to showcase our developments, as we look forward to working together as Innovation Partners on other projects too. DORSET INNOVATION PARK TO LEAD ITSELF TO SUCCESS Dorset Council UK announced last week that it is creating a new company to lead the Dorset Innovation Park into the future. The site is an amazing place that supports businesses and organisations meet a number of the challenges we face today; · Keeping people safe - #defence (exemplified by the working space at BattleLab) · Food for all - #FoodSecurity · Powering the future - #EnergySecurity · Protecting the planet - #Environmental security To me, the site addresses two of the things I’m passionate about; #innovation (it’s in the name) and #collaboration. Becoming an independent company (owned by the council) will allow the park to approach its mission in a new, commercially integrated way. With a focus on success, with dedicated leadership from skilled and experienced people, the potential to develop further, helping businesses succeed faster and with fewer pitfalls, support to access funding, the opportunity to share and drive improvement can explode (pun intended). It's time to not stop when traditional solutions fail, to be novel and adventurous. For me there’s also the potential (nay need) to help drive skills and education in the area. The #SkillsGap is real, and we need a clearer picture of the skills supply/demand balance, to understand it needs an investment that benefits all. WARNING: Exciting times ahead https://lnkd.in/dThQxANZ

It's hard to miss the massive Apache helicopter in the background of todays event. The host for this month's event, Army Flying Museum is definitely one of the most interesting ones the South West Regional Defence & Security Cluster has visited.
