Calling out to my network – I need a contact at Meta! Across the UK, Royal Air Force Air Cadets squadrons are having their Facebook pages shut down by Meta one by one – all flagged for “impersonation.” These are genuine community pages, run by volunteers, that proudly represent their local cadet units. But because they follow national branding guidelines (with local variations so they aren’t exactly the same), we suspect Meta’s systems are mistakenly flagging them. Facebook support has told some squadrons to verify with documents they don’t have (as we’re part of the Royal Air Force (RAF) – it’s not that simple), or to pay £9.99 a month per unit – something many can’t justify when they need funds for minibuses, activities and training equipment. We’ve tried going through the proper channels – no response. But these pages are too important to lose. They help recruit cadets and volunteers, connect families and communities, and support local fundraising. So, I need your help. Do you know someone at Meta who could help us stop this from happening – or guide us on a viable route to verification across all our units? Please like/share/tag anyone who might be able to help.
