🚢 Sheffield Sea Cadets make a difference! Shoutout to the amazing cadets from Sheffield Sea Cadets for their dedication to the community. Last month, they took part in the RBLI (Royal British Legion Industries) Great Tommy Sleep Out. Cadets and cadet volunteers camped out at the unit grounds over a weekend to help raise funds for the RBLI. They've raised over £700 for the charity, which will go towards helping veterans who are experiencing homelessness. 🏃♂️💦 Cadets also stepped up to support runners at the Sheffield Half Marathon recently. They manned the water stations, keeping the participants hydrated and motivated throughout the race. A fantastic effort from all involved 👏🙌 🎉💙 #SeaCadets #CommunityHeroes #GreatTommySleepOut #HalfMarathon Learn more about the cadet forces👇 https://lnkd.in/eThkH4GN

📍Minden House, Pontefract 27 Feb 2025 Thank you to all who attended the Civic Blue Plaque Unveiling Ceremony to commemorate the nine King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Victoria Cross holders who passed through the Depot. The Victoria Cross is one of the highest awards a British soldier can receive. It recognises an extreme act of bravery in the presence of the enemy. The King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry was a light infantry regiment of the British Army. It officially existed from 1881 to 1968 before it was amalgamated with the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry, the King's Shropshire Light Infantry and the Durham Light Infantry to form The Light Infantry. The unveiling was presented by HM Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Mr Ed Anderson CBE and attendees included The Mayor of Wakefield, members of the RIFLES, former members of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and family members of the Victoria Cross recipients, as well as a number of local council and Civic Society members. Thank you to the Pontefract Civic Society for organising this very special event and to all who made this commemoration possible.
