Did you know? The Royal Air Force Air Cadets are really proud of being inclusive! Pilot Officer Wendy Martin RAFAC of 479 Rubery Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets is a prime example of this who we want to celebrate. With limited mobility, she has a fabulous support in her dog, specially trained by Support Dogs, Penny, a fox red Labrador. Wendy has recently attended her Combined Initial Course, held at RAF Cranwell where Penny was instrumental in her success. It seemed that everyone loved Penny too, with her having a reserved seat in the Officers’ Mess! Take a look at the full story here: https://lnkd.in/e3gg4npU

The cadet experience changes lives — and yesterday, our cadets showed what that looks like in action. Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and People, Alistair Carns MP, visited RAF Air Cadets at CTC Frimley Park to see how immersive training technologies are helping young people develop confidence, leadership, and real-world capability. From virtual reality to advanced simulations, our cadets are experiencing innovation that prepares them for life in the Royal Air Force — and in careers beyond. These training approaches reflect the skills valued across sectors, helping ensure what our cadets learn today is relevant to tomorrow’s world. The visit coincided with the launch of The Impact and Value of School-based Cadet Forces in the UK, a new report from the Ministry of Defence and the University of Northampton. 📓 Key findings: 🔹 Better school outcomes – improved attendance, behaviour and academic performance 🔹 More likely to go to university or secure employment 🔹 98.9% of headteachers said cadets are more resilient 🔹 Annual ROI of ~£120m from health and wellbeing benefits 🔹 Over £130m lifetime value in vocational qualifications for disadvantaged cadets 🔹 Adult volunteers gain confidence, qualifications and transferrable workplace skills This isn’t just about showcasing technology. It’s about preparing young people to thrive — in uniform and beyond. 📓 Full report: https://lnkd.in/dwzV2AdP 📣 Gov.uk summary: https://lnkd.in/gqEp9M8q #RAFAirCadets #CadetImpact #YouthDevelopment #FutureLeaders #Leadership #Innovation #ImmersiveLearning #SkillsForLife UK Ministry of Defence University of Northampton Army Cadet Force

This is such an exciting new opportunity! We are very grateful to all those involved with this programme!
The first cohort of candidates at the Royal Air Force Air Cadets commenced their sustainability journey with us today as the programme officially started. The Air Cadets reaches right across the country with approximately 43,000 Cadets and 10,000 adult volunteers. As an organisation the Air Cadets holds global citizenship as a key value as it prepares its members for the challenges that face us all. Mobilising so many people and giving them the knowledge to play their part in creating a more sustainable future will not only support the individuals themselves but also the communities they live in. As the first registrations were completed this morning, hotspots of activity popped up right across the UK showing the scale of potential for positive change. Thanks to the support of the Air Cadet Charity we are all working together to create agents of change who will be empowered to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

What a great opportunity from The Air League! Take a look and see if this is something that may be of interest!
The Air League is delighted to announce the launch of its 2025 Flying, Gliding and Electric Flying Scholarship Programme. The Scholarships are designed to offer those with little to no aviation experience an opportunity to gain skills and build an understanding of the career pathways available within the aviation industry. Applications will open on Monday the 27th of January and will close on Sunday the 30th of March. The Air League, founded in 1909, is the UK’s largest provider of aviation Scholarships. Over the past decade, Scholarships and bursaries worth over £2.5 million have been allocated to young people across the UK. We look for individuals that have a passion for aviation and aerospace and the determination to succeed. Last year, the Air League was proud to award a total of 90 Scholarships; including 56 Flying Scholarships, 3 Electric Flying Scholarships and 31 Gliding Scholarships. Available awards in the 2025 programme include 3-hour, 5-hour and 12-hour flying training courses, £500 gliding bursaries for applicants wishing to further develop their skills and the two-week residential Gliding to Solo course for applicants with no flying experience. We will also be awarding up to two highly sought after full PPL Scholarships worth over £12,000 each to exceptional candidates. Courses can be completed at any of the Air League’s approved training providers across the UK. Full board accommodation will be provided to recipients over 18 years of age who live outside a commutable distance of our training providers. In 2024, the Air League also launched the UK’s first Electric Flying Scholarship Programme. Three successful applicants received five hours of training on the Pipistrel Velis Electro, and benefitted from additional simulator time, ground school and sustainability discussions and education. The programme will be expanded to up to five places in 2025, with training taking place with the Air League’s training partner, Saxon Air Charter Ltd, at Norwich Airport. The Air League has been working to promote sustainable air-mindedness amongst the next generation, and the 2025 Electric Flying Scholarship Programme ensures a continued focus on sustainable aviation. The Air League’s Scholarships are open to anyone that meets the requirements listed in the flying application criteria and gliding application criteria. The Air League’s vision is to change lives through aviation and believes there should be no educational, financial, or social barriers for those who want to succeed.
