  • ♻️ Progress of the Heating Network Modernization in #Chernihiv: 62% of thermal insulation updated! The reconstruction of the centralized heating system pipelines in Chernihiv is ongoing, and the project is entering a new phase. 62% of the thermal insulation has already been updated, and 9 teams are working in parallel on different sections, bringing the work closer to completion. The updated insulation is already helping to reduce heat losses and improve the efficiency of the network, creating more comfortable conditions for residents. In April, reconstruction will begin on two additional sections of the above-ground heating network. In addition to updating the insulation, significant attention is being paid to clearing technological access roads, ensuring access for specialized equipment, and landscaping the area. 📌 The project "Reconstruction of pipelines of the centralized heating system of the Communal Enterprise ‘Teplokomunenergo’ of Chernihiv City Council" is financed by the European Union in Ukraine with the support of Nefco - the Nordic Green Bank in Ukraine, which acts as the program manager for the Critical Infrastructure Restoration Program – Component II, Ukraine. Egis team in Ukraine provides technical supervision, support, and consulting to the Beneficiary, ensuring high-quality execution of works in compliance with international standards.

  • March 21 — World Down Syndrome Day! ☀️ Today, Egis team in Ukraine joined the initiative to support the All-Ukrainian Charity Organization "Down Syndrome" (https://lnkd.in/dYkDVAZQ), making a charitable donation to help fund programs for children with Down syndrome and their families. For many years, this organization has been providing essential support for children and their families in areas such as development, education, and social integration 👨👩👧👦. To raise even more awareness about the importance of inclusion, our team took part in the global #LotsOfSocks campaign by wearing bright, mismatched socks — a symbol that every person is unique, yet we are all equal in rights and opportunities. 🔸 Why March 21, and why colorful socks? 📅 The 21st day of the third month was chosen for a reason — it represents the three copies of chromosome 21, which cause Down syndrome. People with this syndrome have 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46. 🧦 Colorful or mismatched socks have become a symbol of this day because when laid out in a row, they resemble a chromosome chain. On this day, people all over the world participate in the Lots of Socks campaign to draw attention to people with Down syndrome, their needs, talents, and contributions. By wearing bright, eye-catching socks, we express solidarity and get a small sense of what it feels like to stand out and attract attention. 🙏🏻 This simple yet powerful gesture reminds us all: everyone deserves support, respect, and the opportunity to live a full and happy life. We believe in a world without barriers, where everyone has the chance to grow, learn, and be heard. Thank you to our amazing team for your kindness, empathy, and commitment to making a difference! 🫂 #Egis #Ukraine #Inclusion #DownSyndrome #WorldDownSyndromeDay #LotsOfSocks #TogetherForInclusion

  • On February 25, Egis celebrated an important milestone – the 30th anniversary of our Western Regional Office in Ukraine. This event was an opportunity to reflect on our journey, from signing our first contract to study the tram line extension in Lviv to delivering dozens of projects in transport, energy, environment, water supply, critical infrastructure, and other sectors. 🤝 As part of the celebration, we held three panel discussions focused on key areas of Ukraine’s infrastructure recovery: infrastructure, transport and mobility; environment and waste management; water and energy. Our partners shared their experience working with Egis and discussed significant joint projects, including the implementation of an automated fare collection system in Lviv, modernization of district heating, development of regional waste management strategies, and the construction of a biogas plant. The participation of donors such as Nefco - the Nordic Green Bank and Swedfund International was a key moment for exploring new opportunities for financing and partnerships aimed at recovery and sustainable development in Ukraine. 👩🏻🎓👨🏻🎓In addition, we announced a student competition designed to support the intellectual potential and professional growth of young people in Ukraine. 🗣️ “Our knowledge and expertise grow together with the communities we serve, even in the most challenging times,” said Alex Gittelson, Managing Director of Egis in Ukraine, Caucasus & Central Asia. We are grateful to our partners for their trust and inspiration to keep moving forward! 👏🏼 🔗 Learn more about the event: https://lnkd.in/d2kkChkg Nat coworking Alan Corner, Alex Gittelson, Ihor Mohyla, Oleksandr Ignatenko, Oleksandr Baran, Anastasiia Matiienko, Anna Kashchyn, Alla Krasnozhon, Alina Masych, Maryna Obikhod, Yarema Sirko, Uliana Zasidkovych, Volodymyr Kuzma, Roman Pyptyk

Managing Director - Ukraine, Caucasus, and Central Asia at Egis

Amid a turbulent week last week for Ukraine and its allies, we at Egis in Ukraine, Caucasus & Central Asia took a moment to recognize how far we have come together with clients, beneficiaries, and partners. Egis has always stood and will continue to stand for an independent, resilient, sustainable, and community-driven Ukraine! In January 1995, 30 years ago, we signed our first contract in Western Ukraine, in the city of Lviv, to study the possibility of extending its tram line. Since then, we have developed our activities from studies to masterplanning to electronic ticketing to supervising construction of trams and transport in Lviv. But that was just the beginning of what I see as a beautiful story of our institutional presence and growth in and with Ukraine as a sovereign, brave, talented, and creative nation. Since the 1990s, we have been Ukraine's partners' and clients' most reliable engineering and technical consultant across all sectors of public and private infrastructure - from heating and power, to water supply, to waste management and war waste debris removal, to defense of critical infrastructure, to capacity building, to industrial development, to climate change adaptation to environmental reform, to roads and rail and beyond. It has been a source of great pride to see our teams' expertise and experience grow alongside the communities which we serve, through the hardest and also the best of times. We have succeeded together. We have failed together. We have learned together. We are now 200 strong in Ukraine, still implementing close to 50 projects in Ukraine across a broad range of clients, from the international development agencies to financial institutions to the private sector and state authorities. Flagship projects include emergency bridge and road reconstruction and repairs, school bomb shelter design, debris removal, redesign of residential buildings in damaged towns such as Hostomel, Irpin, war damage diagnostic and reimagining neighborhoods for better resilience, studying the need for underground infrastructure, keeping public transport going, procuring new rolling stock and works, and improving rail, road, and logistics and border crossing points to secure Ukraine's economic resilience and export abilities. We have also been working on supporting Ukraine's accession to the EU through reforms and adaptation in the fields of waste, climate and environment, transport, and by creating the national transport model to better integrate its network. We consider ourselves Ukrainian first and foremost, our French roots lead us to actively support French business through the CCIFU and MEDEF and Business Advisory Council in Ukraine, helping to navigate small and large enterprises just entering the market, promoting initiatives for increased investment and eliminating barriers to entering the market. We understand the importance to be able to hit the ground running. We are already building the future Ukraine. Join us!

  • 💧 An article by Andriy Bikats, Chief Water Supply and Sanitation Engineer at Egis in Ukraine, Caucasus & Central Asia, titled "Low Price – High Value," was published in the Ukrainian socio-political media Gazeta.ua.    In an accessible way, Andrii explains the hidden water losses that occur daily due to the deterioration of infrastructure. The numbers are striking: to deliver 80 or 100 liters of water to the consumer, the water utility loses the same amount along the way. This means that if a Ukrainian city with one million residents consumes 80,000 cubic meters of water per day, the same amount could be lost into the ground.    🔑 The author highlights why water supply system modernization requires significant investments and how international technical and financial assistance can support cities. Equally important, however, is our own perception of water as a valuable resource – not something cheap and infinite. Water is one of the planet’s most precious resources, and water scarcity is among the greatest threats posed by climate change. At Egis, we are proud that our experts not only implement crucial projects but also engage in educational activities, shaping a new culture of water use in Ukraine.    👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gSVGgPGC #WaterMatters #Egis #SustainableFuture #WaterManagement
