Once a 9 year old who built a space shuttle model 🚀 out of recycled newspapers, now a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory alumni and Nanyang Technological University Singapore professor who uses satellite images to save lives 🆘 and protect the environment 🌱 Watch the story of @Prof Sang-Ho Yun, Director, Earth Observatory of Singapore - Remote Sensing (EOS-RS) on using satellite data to help save lives and inspire the next generation of the space industry. 🌠 “Space is beyond earth exploration; it is about practical applications, solving problems here on earth. Space technology offers the tools to protect the future of our planet, but only if the next generation uses those tools to lead the way. The space sector isn’t just for scientists and engineers. It’s for anyone who wants to make a difference." 🌟 Sang-Ho Yun NTU Asian School of the Environment #SpaceTech #SingaporeSpace #Sustainability #SpaceSG #Space #EarthObservation #EOI #HADR #EOSsg

Earth Observation (EO) technology is gradually evolving for sustainability — offering real-time data insights that help us track land use, manage water resources, monitor crop health, and respond to natural disasters with greater speed and accuracy. 🛰️ To harness this potential, we launched the Earth Observation Initiative (EOI) in February 2025. The EOI brings together stakeholders — including governmental and non-governmental bodies, research institutions, and industry players — to co-develop innovative solutions for the Asia-Pacific region that are scalable and impactful. 💯 Together, we aim to address the region’s sustainability and humanitarian challenges through actionable, data-driven insights from space. Last week marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Luxembourg and Singapore, which started on 17 March 1975. @President Tharman’s state visit to Luxembourg was accompanied by a significant achievement in Singapore’s space sector. 🇸🇬🇱🇺 During the visit, OSTIn’s Executive Director, Mr. Jonathan Hung, witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between @SpeQtral and @SES Satellites. The MoU enables SpeQtral and SES to connect both companies’ current and future quantum key distribution (QKD) satellite missions to gain access to the supply of long-distance QKD to end users in Asia, Europe, and around the world. 🌏 ED OSTIn also had the opportunity to meet with CEO @Luxembourg Space Agency, Mr. Marc Serres, Site Director @Bradford space Kateryna Aheieva, and Managing Director @GomSpace Edgar Milic. This visit marks the warm relations and furthering of space collaboration between both countries building upon our MOU signed in 2023. 🛰️ OSTIn is grateful for the unwavering support of our friends in Luxembourg, and looks forward to continued international partnerships in building the future of space. 🌌 Hong Tat Chee | Sun Xueling | Elisabeth Margue | Anne-Catherine Ries | Jonathan Hung | Marc Serres | Chune Yang L. | Adel Al-Saleh | Kateryna Aheieva | Edgar Milic #spacesg #Space #SpaceEcosystem #SpaceInnovation #SingaporeSpace #SpaceCollaboration #SpaceTech #Technology #Connectivity #GlobalSpace

🚦 Why is Space Traffic Coordination important? How may we increase the safety and sustainability of space activities? What can be done to reduce the potential for collisions and other incidents via better coordination? Some important issues were discussed at the workshop on ‘Space Traffic Coordination: An Ongoing Conversation about Regional Needs and Information Sharing’ co-organised by OSTIn on 27 February 2025, at the sidelines of the Singapore Space Week. 🛰️ Organised in partnership with Secure World Foundation, the workshop’s keynote address was delivered by the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Aarti Holla-Maini, and featured presentations from: 1. Government partners from GISTDA, Geo-informatics and Space Technology Development Agency Philippine Space Agency, UK Space Agency, and Office of Space Commerce. 2. Commercial Space Situational Awareness companies Slingshot Aerospace and Digantara. 3. Spacecraft operators GALAXYSPACE. 4. An academic perspective by McGill Institute of Air and Space Law. The workshop's interactive format encouraged discussions that included the need to raise awareness and the importance of building trust across the public and private sectors. Participants concurred on the need for capacity building around space situational awareness, not just on technical expertise but also on academia, space law, and policy. It is vital that such discussions include diverse stakeholders, and we thank all participants for their thoughtful views! 😇 We look forward to future discussions on this important topic and bringing together a multi-stakeholder approach across disciplines and regions. These are essential elements for the global space community to move forward with the effective implementation of space traffic coordination. 🚀 #SpaceTrafficCoordination #Space #GSTCE #SpaceSector #SpaceIndustry #SpaceTech
