FIGHTING POVERTY FROM IT'S ROOTS
Another busy and exciting week here Stromme Foundation Uganda! 😀. We Spent the last 3 days doing what we do best.....: FIGHTING POVERTY!!!. You see, Poverty has many forms and shapes but regardless of which form it takes if you must fight it, you better be fighting it from its roots. Here at Stromme Foundation, we believe that one of the most effective ways to fight poverty is by promoting the provision Quality and Inclusive education to the most marginalized populations including refugees, Persons with disabilities and Girls. We want our children to enroll in school, stay in school and complete school. With support from Education Above All Foundation and The AKO Foundation, we Commissioned 2 classroom blocks and 2 latrine blocks in Mijale Primary School; Distributed 1,616 student desks & 7,552 Text books to our learners with the aim of improving their learning experience; Distributed 64 executive chairs, 64 executive tables, over 40 dozens of chalk boxes and dusters to our teachers with the aim of improving their teaching experience. These materials benefited 128 schools in Obongi and Yumbe districts under the Rising Project. It is true, that when children enjoy learning and teachers enjoy teaching, meaningful and impactful education is guaranteed and inevitably, poverty is disarmed.
Our gratitude goes to our Rising implementing partners RICE WESTNILE & Community Empowerment for Rural Development-CEFORD Uganda for a job well done, to the Local Governments' of Obongi and Yumbe Districts for the great partnership and conducive work environment provided to Stromme Foundation and it's partners. Deep gratitude goes to the Stromme Foundation Uganda team Joseph Walugembe, Moira Adeke, Hannington Komakech, Isaac Morris Ojok, Andrew Oduti, Brenda A.,Edwin Mpaabe Enosh Ojwang, Ndiwa Peter, Ruth Akongo and all the others not mentioned here for the relentless effort geared towards achieving our goal and to Erik Lunde for giving me an opportunity to be part of such a great, justifiable and legitimate cause.
Overall, my trip was Truly Awesome! 😃 😄 .. The beaming faces of the little girls and boys that I met on my trip just wont leave my mind!.. Their smiles will forever stay with me and fuel my energy to fight poverty from its roots.
