About us

This is the Official Page of UNICEF Tanzania. UNICEF has been on the ground in Tanzania since 1954 as part of its emergency operations, though the office was set up in 1975. Since then, UNICEF’s support to Tanzania has taken many forms guided by the changing situation of women and children in Tanzania as well as the Organization's priorities. UNICEF plays a unique role in Tanzania as an advocate for children’s rights, identifying gaps in their realization, providing technical advice and assistance to the Government in addressing the gaps, and bringing evidence to the table. UNICEF will not stop until every child has every right!

  • For the past three days, we’ve been in Mbeya and Songwe 🇹🇿 with our 2024-25 Youth Advocates cohort for an immersive orientation and what a ride it’s been! 💥 From learning about WASH in schools and menstrual hygiene, to seeing how youth-friendly services and programs for out-of-school adolescents are transforming lives, these young leaders got a front-row seat to what advocacy looks like on the ground. They came curious, left inspired, and now, they’re ready to raise their voices #ForEveryChild. 💪🏾

  • From dreams to reality: UNICEF Youth Advocate Vasta's journey of resilience and empowerment. When her formal education was interrupted, Vasta discovered hope through the government-led, UNICEF Tanzania supported Integrated Programme for Out-of-School Adolescents (IPOSA). With determination and a passion for tailoring, she honed new skills, paving the way for her own tailoring business and a small kiosk that started her journey to financial independence. But Vasta’s story doesn’t stop there. Embracing her newfound skills, she became a dedicated community volunteer, established a savings group for adolescent girls, and was celebrated as one of UNICEF Tanzania’s new Youth Advocates, standing firm in the fight to end child marriage. Every girl deserves the chance to rewrite her story. ✨ Read more about Vasta’s journey: https://lnkd.in/dyGgTgzJ
