This week kicked off with an absolutely outstanding experience! @MIT Global Startup Workshop (MIT GSW) #ShapingTomorrow – Technologies for a Changing World conference brought together over 1300 participants from around the globe in Warsaw, and it was truly inspiring! ✨✨✨ Being part of this event was amazing, especially learning from leading experts who discussed key topics like healthtech, cleantech, future tech, AI, and the challenges we face today. Networking was a big part of it too! Special thanks to Dominika Duda (she/her) for connecting medtech startups and organizing spontaneous roundtables for us 😊. It was great chatting with Joanna Lipner, Jakub Chwiecko, Wojtek Skalski, and Aleksandra Staniszewska – seeing how you're all growing your projects and sharing ideas was fantastic. On Tuesday, I had the opportunity (and the responsibility, as the only woman in the cohort) to share our vision with top US-based investors. 😍 Being selected alongside brilliant startups like Doctor.One, Restimo, ResQuant, Hetalox, PowerUP Energy Technologies, VisionAnchor, and Alpha Powders was a great honor. And guess what? The iYoni App took third place! Linda Plano, thanks to your model and invaluable advice – we nailed it! 🚀🚀🚀 Congratulations to all the startups, and of course to the other winners – Hetalox and PowerUP Energy Technologies. Investment strategies? Real-world testing? Critical insights and refined #dualuse solutions? That's right, last week, we welcomed back our NATO DIANA Estonian accelerator teams for another onsite in Tallinn. Let's recap! The week kicked off with a lesson on Estonian history at Patarei fortress. This was followed by masterclasses, where Sandra Golbreich and 🧙♂️ Erik Bhullar (BSV Ventures) guided teams through venture capital and investor negotiations. Meanwhile, teams pitched their solutions on camera for an official NATO DIANA batch #2 video - an exercise in clarity and composure under pressure. Midweek, Superangel’s Nicholas N. and Jaan Kokk guided startups through financial planning and exit strategies. Afterwards, Wayren, Telearmy, IS-Wireless, ResQuant, Microamp, Factiverse and Scaleout engaged with representatives from 2C Ventures, NEDES, Unmanned.vc, and SmartCap about dual-use investment criteria. The Estonian Defence Forces, Estonian Defence League, and Politsei- ja Piirivalveamet provided real-world insights, ensuring solutions aligned with their innovation needs. At the Future of Defence Tech event, startups delivered three-minute pitches before diving into negotiation strategies with Jaanus Tamm (DefSecIntel Solutions) and an industry overview from Rene Ehasalu (Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association). The final day was all about hands-on validation. At TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, our 7 teams explored 5G and drone testing capabilities. CR14 offered NATO-grade cybersecurity exercises, and The Estonian Academy of Security Sciences showcased robotic systems and remote sensing technology. By week’s end, startups left exhausted but inspired, with new strategies, investor leads, and a clearer path to scaling. The next challenge? Turning insights into real-world actions.
