We’ve hosted: - a big Valentines Day breakfast with Hon David Seymour - new Minister for Small Business & Manufacturing Hon Chris Penk - outgoing Australian High Commissioner Harinder Sidhu - CEO Lucas Evans of seaweed business Premium Seas, a regional winner in our 2Degrees Auckland Business Awards Innovation category - NZ’s outgoing Ambassador to China Jonathan Austin (not pictured) - and last but not least, a podcast with Paul Spain on his NZ Business show Connection, advocacy & thought leadership for Auckland businesses is at the heart of what the Auckland Chamber does. Industry-academia collaboration at its best, with The University of Waikato's very own chemist and seaweed product specialist Dr Chris Glasson, and Lucas Evans of Premium Seas New Zealand working together to put seaweed in the spotlight and in your shopping basket. This is just one piece of a much larger puzzle in our work with Premium Seas New Zealand. I've always said that every seaweed business needs access to a great chemist, and few are more committed than Christopher Glasson 🎖️

This week we conducted the final golden kelp Ecklonia radiata monitoring and harvesting trip in Tikapa Moana Hauraki Gulf for our three-year Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) SFFF Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures Greenwave Regenerative Ocean Farming Seaweed pilot, and what a gorgeous day to finish on. Calm seas, sunshine, seaweed, and data collection. #LoveMyJob anyone? The past three years have been both fun and instructive, we learned a lot, including how much more there is to learn, and we are very much looking forward to future collaborations. Heartfelt thanks goes out to Greenwave Aotearoa, EnviroStrat, Premium Seas New Zealand, and AgriSea NZ Seaweed Ltd, and to all the project partners and stakeholders. A special shout-out to my team at The University of Waikato: Dr Rebecca Lawton and Peter Randrup for your fantastic efforts, enthusiasm, and commitment.  And of course to Lucas Evans, the glue keeping us together.
