About us
We provide platforms and opportunities for our members, their partners, business, and governments, in Aotearoa and internationally, to network, collaborate, and share ideas. Our Humanitarian Network supports the coordination of emergency humanitarian response internationally. We work alongside partners and governments to ensure appropriate support is given for locally identified needs; from volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and floods, to droughts, conflict, and other emergencies. We promote, and strongly believe in transparency and accountability. Our full member organisations undertake a rigorous due diligence process to become compliant with our Code of Conduct. The Code outlines standards and expectations of corporate governance, transparency, accountability, and best-practice.

Support Myanmar Earthquake Relief The Council for International Development Aotearoa New Zealand is compiling a list of appeals from its member organisations and partner agencies to support those affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Myanmar. These appeals offer a trusted way for New Zealanders to contribute to urgent relief and recovery efforts. A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck on 28 March, triggering widespread devastation and strong aftershocks. Critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and airports, has been severely impacted, making access to affected communities difficult. More than 70 aftershocks have been recorded, further complicating rescue efforts. The full scale of the disaster is still unfolding, and the need for assistance remains urgent. CID members and their partners are on the ground, providing essential aid such as food, shelter, and medical support. You can help by donating to trusted organisations working directly with affected communities. A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand on Friday, leaving devastation in its wake. The death toll has risen to over 1,000, with thousands injured and many still missing. Rescue operations are ongoing, but efforts are hampered by the extensive damage to infrastructure and communication networks. The United States Geological Survey warns that fatalities could rise beyond 10,000 as the full scale of the disaster emerges. Myanmar’s military government has issued an urgent plea for international assistance. (Sources: NZHerald, 1News) CID members and partner agencies are already responding in the region, working to assess needs and provide immediate relief. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Myanmar and Thailand during this heartbreaking time. We hope for the safety of those impacted and strength for those involved in rescue efforts. #cidnz #earthquake #myanmar #thailand Photo credit: Associated Press
