  • This past weekend, Auckland Rugby League hosted its first ever Female Coaching Conference, bringing together coaches dedicated to developing and supporting female athletes in our game.   The conference was an eye-opener, packed with valuable insights on coaching strategies, athlete development, and how we can create the best environments for female players to thrive. From understanding the unique needs of female athletes to fostering strong team cultures.   Congratulations to David Fauonuku Letitia Taylor and the team for delivering a world class event and driving the growth of our female game at the grassroots level.   A huge thank you to Pat Wulf & the Wulf Security team for being the major sponsor & making this event possible. Your support is helping drive real change in the game.   And of course, massive appreciation to those who attended. Your dedication to the girls in our game is truly inspiring.

We have partnered with legendary Rugby League coach Sir Graham Lowe to launch "Kick for the Seagulls - Community Coaching"—a 12-course series designed to inspire and develop the next generation of community coaches, fostering skills, teamwork, and a love for the game. 🌟 🏉 “This program will not tell you how to coach—it offers support for questions you’ll face as a coach and my insights based on experience. These principles will help arm coaches with confidence and bring their own ideas to life,” says Sir Graham Lowe. Auckland Rugby League is set to be the first to roll out this exciting program. “What I love about this program is that Lowie has developed it with his own rich experience and knowledge,” shares Rebecca Russell, CEO of Auckland Rugby. • We love seeing our women at ARL continue to grow in their leadership ability. Recently Dionte Kang was accepted into the Whakatipu Wahine Toa leadership development course for women who are aspiring for higher leadership roles in sport, recreation and exercise. Dionte wanted to pursue this course as she was eager to learn how to incorporate her Māori background and mana into all areas of life. Since the birth of her daughter two years ago, she has been on a journey to learn and embrace my language, ensuring that she grows up fluent in not just Māori but also her Korean and Samoan heritage. Congratulations Dionte, we are proud of you and we cant wait to see how you can use your learnings to continue to drive our journey at ARL. Women in Sport Aotearoa

  • Last weekend our U18 Vulcans boys made history at the National Youth Tournament down in Rotorua. Against all odds, they managed to beat a star-studded Akarana team in the finals and take out the National Championship 22-12. This was the first time ever that a Vulcans U18 Boys team had made the Grand Finals, let alone win it. As our head of pathways TJ Ashford so eloquently put it to our youngsters before the tournament …. “The Auckland jersey has rich history of 115 years and our job is to be the best caretakers of it as we can. This week is about leaving your own legacy in the blue and white jersey." We couldn’t be more proud of what our 4 teams achieved across the course of the week but a special shout out to our U18 boys for the historic win. 🌋🌋🌋
