As we closed the month of March, we want to highlight #BreakingBreadAcrossBorders, an incredible initiative we’re proud to have partnered with. Alongside Movement On The Ground (MOTG), we hosted community Iftar dinners throughout this Ramadan, bringing together unaccompanied minors, members of the local community, and our networks for evenings of reflection, and shared traditions. A small gesture to bring warmth, connection, and a taste of home to displaced communities, for whom breaking fast without the comfort of family, or a familiar space is especially difficult. With our deepest gratitude to Charlie MacGregor, Adil Izemrane, Patricia Vermeulen and their teams who always inspire us with their commitment to social justice. You are beacons of hope... March might just be our favourite month of the year! It’s only been a few months since we became a Certified B Corporation, but we’ve hit the ground running, sparking new partnerships and an engaging calendar of activations across Europe to celebrate #BCorpMonth and the #GenB community. For us, being a part of this remarkable movement is more than a milestone – it’s a way of envisioning a better future with businesses leading for good. In the lead up to B Corp month, we rolled up our sleeves and planned a number of dynamic, impact-driven initiatives: from eco-feminist art shows to neighbourhood clean-ups, panel discussions, and workshops on conscious consumption. Here are some highlights: ▪️ In Florence, our Lavagnini Hub teamed up with the responsible fashion brand Menabòh to host a creative upcycling experience, promoting fabulous, sustainable clothing. ▪️ Over in Glasgow, we joined forces with CONNECT THREE to host an engaging, interactive session aimed at empowering business leaders to build thriving workplaces. ▪️ In Madrid, we just wrapped up an impactful Green Roundtable to rethink sustainability for a better future, giving us all much food for thought. ▪️ And, over in Amsterdam, we teamed up with our friends at Tony's Chocolonely to kick off a strategic partnership with a chocolate-infused culinary experience that served as the sweet setting for impact-driven networking and conversations. We’re more inspired than ever and convinced that sustainability and community are the essential ingredients for businesses that want to use their power as a force for good. Italy, we love you... Our very own Roman hub will open its doors this Monday 31st! Bang in the heart of #SanLorenzo, the city’s historic art district, the new complex pays homage to the iconic 1920s industrial landmark of the “ex-dogana” and is the biggest new build hospitality project in the city in over a decade! This former railway customs house has had many lives, most recently serving as a vibrant cultural space before falling into disuse in 2019. Our amazing teams have lovingly given new life to the site with three buildings connected by a sprawling 10,000sq metre public park: • A newly built, 396-room 4-star hotel, with all our trademark #TheSocialHub trimmings, including premium coworking and meeting & events spaces, dining venues, and more. • A revamped indoor-outdoor event venue that keeps the original charm of the customs house, set to become a vibrant cultural hotspot once again. • Last but not least, a beautifully restored third building home to the Accademia Italiana, a well-known design & applied arts institute. This dynamic hub for innovation, hybrid hospitality, and community building is transforming how neighbourhoods connect, fostering interactions and creating lasting value for the local community. #TheSocialHubRome is ready to take the Eternal City by storm! We’ve struck a partnership with Tony's Chocolonely! Beautiful (and sweet) things happen when two B Corps come together to leverage business as a force for good and drive social impact… To kick things off, we hosted an unforgettable ‘Food for Thought’ dinner at our Amsterdam City hub, bringing together changemakers, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders for some seriously good conversation. Over a special dining experience featuring Tony’s fairtrade chocolate-infused dishes, we explored how responsible business practices are an integral part of our hybrid hospitality model. A special highlight? Our own chocolate bar! Artist Julia Gore-Koenig designed a custom chocolate bar inspired by the evening’s theme: “Raising the Bar for a Better Society, One Bite at a Time.” This dinner was only the start of something truly meaningful… Over the next months, expect a lineup of events, workshops, and activations across The Netherlands, aimed at promoting more mindful and responsible choices at all levels. #BCorpMonth #BCorp #TheSocialHub #HybridHospitality #TonysChocolonely B Lab Europe B Lab Benelux

A 1000 times yes to this Charlie MacGregor! At The Social Hub, we are all in when it comes to DEI. For us, DEI has never been some bureaucratic checkbox that we need to tick and that we can just as easily cancel. It’s rooted in our very DNA. With ‘Social’ at the heart of our name, building communities and bringing people from all walks of life together isn’t just what we do – it’s who we are. No loopholes here. So, watching the latest wave of companies dropping DEI is not only disappointing—it’s astounding and bad business. Embracing diversity and inclusivity isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do for guests, for teams, and ultimately, for a company’s vision that can truly reflect the wonderfully diverse world we live in. At The Social Hub, we’re lucky to have leaders like our Chief People Officer Djoeke Sprenger and our Director of Sustainability & Impact Amber Westerborg who – alongside their teams – are driving our mission forward in that space. We remain proudly committed to creating a better society for everyone, not just the privileged few. #TheSocialHub #hybridhospitality #DEI #Community
I really struggle with this new wave of "anti DEI." For me it just doesn't make sense, on so many levels. Why would a company, especially an international one, stop trying to have a diverse and equal workforce. There are many reasons why I strongly believe in being a strong advocate of DEI in the workplace, but the most simple argument towards all of these "world leading companies" has to be that it protects your top line. This article in the Financial Times states that 90% of the top 400 companies, in the S&P 500, have removed references to DEI. What does this say to your teams and to your customers? We at The Social Hub (B Corp™), alongside all these S&P 500 companies, have a customer base that is worldwide and caters for every person, no matter where they come from, what they have / don't have, what they identify as, or don't... we don't differentiate our customer base, at all... So how can you expect to attract these customers to your business if you don't have a team that can help you - as a (white) privileged (male) CEO - understand the needs and wants of these other (majority when combined) groups? The different points of view and voices we have within the team, at all levels (and yes, we can still be better) really help us have a rounded and well balanced offering for our guests. This is good for everyone, its a win-win! The argument that I hear, well one of the many, is "it's gone too far." Well I challenge my fellow CEOs on this. It's our job to make sure we have a good balance and our companies don't take anything "too far." To me, this statement, reflects more on you than DEI. Please, let’s keep doing what is right for all, knowing that doing so also makes sound business sense. Embracing equity and diversity should never be a source of apprehension. Instead, let’s lead with purpose and positivity. ✌️

Our team is feeling recharged after a fantastic ITB Berlin, the premier convention for the global tourism ecosystem with over 100,000 attendees. It was inspiring to meet colleagues from around the globe and hear so many engaging and powerful discussions on some of the most pressing and transformative issues our sector is facing, including sustainability and technology. Our amazing Chief Marketing Officer Trix van der Vleuten took part in the fireside chat “Gamechangers in Hospitality: Embracing Change and Innovation” alongside Matthijs Welle, Rogier Braakman and moderated by Jan Huizing, which gave the room much food for thought. Here are some key takeaways from the thought-provoking session: ▪️ Hospitality needs to be bolder and more disruptive, from its very basic business model, to technology, to redefining how we generate impact through purpose. ▪️ More hospitality companies need to make sustainable and inclusive travel a priority—especially by bringing diverse communities together, which is at the heart of our hybrid hospitality model at The Social Hub. ▪️ To continue to innovate, leaders should look beyond their industry and tap into personal passions for an outside in perspective. Fun fact: our CMO is also an author! Trix wrote a children’s book all about empowering young girls. Want to learn more? We want to say it loud and clear: here at The Social Hub we care about diversity, inclusivity, and wellbeing. Every day, we work to shape a fairer future as we strive to create a better society for everybody. Now perhaps more than ever it’s important to spell these things out and remain steadfast in our mission. Yet again this International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating female empowerment, connection, and self expression with a series of inspiring initiatives throughout the month of March, including a powerful visual statement by the incredible art duo Sisters Janssen. Ziarah Janssen and Tisja Janssen have created a very special mural for our hub in Amsterdam, honouring a number of pioneering women artists including Nina Simone and Grace Jones. “Resistance and change often begin in art,” Ursula Le Guin once famously said. At The Social Hub we create space for dialogue, creativity, and connection. Together, we can contribute to a gender equal world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. The mural is part of the exhibition "Layers: There’s not one story to tell" curated by our Ambassador, the wonderful cultural historian Cathelijne Blok, and featuring artists Yamuna Forzani and Valentijn Hoogenkamp. Be sure to stop by our Amsterdam City hub – it’s open to the public! #TheSocialHub #IWD2025 #SistersJanssen #Women
