🎥 We’re thrilled to present the official Synergies Project video, showcasing how we’re joining forces across Europe to enhance #DisasterResilience and #preparedness in local communities. In a world where natural hazards and human-induced disasters are becoming more frequent and extreme, preparedness is the key. That’s why, the SYNERGIES project aims to build stronger, more informed communities by addressing the gaps in #DisasterRiskReduction practices and creating new ways to connect and empower local populations. In this video, you’ll get an inside look at SYNERGIES in action, with a focus on our three preparedness case studies: #Malta, #LaRéunion and #Rotterdam. Each of these preparedness cases serves as a real-world example of how communities can adapt and prepare for different types of #NaturalDisasters, all while leveraging the power of local knowledge and collaboration. 🎥 Watch the video to learn more about SYNERGIES’ mission and join us in building a safer, more resilient future for all: https://lnkd.in/epPH46Kk #DisasterPreparedness #CommunityResilience #RiskReduction #DisasterManagment
Synergies Project
Civiele en sociale organisaties
European co-funded project dedicated to fostering a culture of disaster preparedness
Over ons
With a collaborative approach, we engage first and second responders, citizens, civil society organisations, research and education systems, authorities, and business companies in disaster preparedness actions. Our focus revolves around five key preparedness needs: involving all relevant actors, strengthening education and training, effective communication with citizens, managing spontaneous volunteers, and ensuring sustainable solutions. Building on research from previous EU-funded projects, SYNERGIES integrates findings, refines practices, and guides three real-life Preparedness Cases in the Reunion islands, Malta and Rotterdam. 2023-2026

🌍 The Synergies Project is joining forces with RESIST to enhance crisis preparedness in the face of climate change, conflicts, and digital threats. By building on past EU initiatives, we aim to equip local communities with the tools to respond effectively to crises. #CrisisPreparedness #SynergiesProject #Resilience #DisasterResponse
🌍 Better solutions for crisis preparedness! In a world increasingly affected by climate change, conflicts and digital threats, crisis preparedness is more important than ever. SINTEF, coordinating partner of RESIST, is now participating in the EU-funded research project Synergies Project, which aims to ensure that authorities, responders and citizens are better equipped to deal with crises. Synergies Project is developing solutions to assess and improve preparedness, train local leaders, and strengthen emergency communications —ensuring that #communities can respond effectively to #disasters. At RESIST Project, we focus on building resilience to climate-related crises. Our shared goal with SYNERGIES is clear: to empower local communities with science-based, actionable strategies to adapt and respond to crises. SYNERGIES builds on the results of previous projects such as ENGAGE H2020 or BuildERS H2020, ensuring that knowledge and solutions are shared across EU initiatives. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dcGsaDX3 #CrisisPreparedness #BetterSolutions #InnovationForCommunities European Commission SINTEF Digital Mission Implementation Platform for Adaptation to Climate Change (MIP4Adapt)

🚀 Big things are happening!
🌟 Exciting news! 🤝 The Synergies Project and the PARATUS project are making the most of opportunities to make their work count beyond the life of the projects, by building a #bridge between their #research and delivery of real-world #impact through European pre-standardisation. 💡With the support of the UNI Ente Italiano di Normazione, the CEN Workshop Agreement #CWA will allow the #innovations (e.g. tools for disaster preparedness, systemic risk management, stakeholder engagement etc) to be shared more widely and hopefully to influence future European or international #standards. 🗞️ Read the news to know more 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eP6qQ4SG

📢 This month, #SYNERGIES took part in two key Japan-hosted research events focused on #DisasterResilience and risk governance! 📌 The first one was the EU-Japan Forum on Research and Innovation Communication (Kyoto, March 3-4). Co-organised by the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (#DPRI) at Kyoto University and the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (#CERIS), this event brought together experts to discuss societal resilience. Nathan Clark, from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), joined two panels on inclusive disaster risk management, sharing how SYNERGIES is strengthening local #preparedness through insights from past projects like LINKS EU Project, ENGAGE H2020, and H2020 - RESILOC. A big thanks to Philippe Quevauviller, Ana-Maria Cruz, and the DPRI team for hosting. 📌 Then, we partecipated at the World Bosai Forum in Sendai. Co-hosted by Tohoku University, the forum underscored the need for stronger financial backing and inclusive approaches in #DisasterRiskReduction and #ClimateChange adaptation. At the event we presented on how SYNERGIES research and outcomes are supporting the implementation of the Sendai Framework priorities around inclusive disaster risk governance. It was great to see the ongoing work and outcomes of Horizion projects within the Societal Resilience Cluster being promoted at both events, including dicussions from: Resiliage, PARATUS project, MYRIAD-EU , B-prepared Horizon Europe project, SYNERGISE project. Excellent knowledge exchanges with international researchers and new synergies for the future! #DisasterRiskReduction #EUJapanCooperation #Resilience #RiskGovernance #HorizonEurope #CMINE

📢 Building resilience in Malta: insights from DecEx 2024 How can we improve #DisasterPreparedness and response? DecEx 2024, organised as part of the SYNERGIES project, was an important exercise that brought together responders, volunteers, and government agencies to strengthen Malta’s #resilience to #emergencies. Led by the Canine Search and Rescue Team - Order of Malta - Maltese Association, this was the first national-scale drill organised by an NGO in Malta. The exercise simulated a post-earthquake Search and Rescue operation, involving 195 responders and 65 volunteer actors, and tested coordination, #earlywarning systems, and inter-agency collaboration. 🔍 Discover the key takeaways and how SYNERGIES contributed to this milestone event.
