We are pleased to share the latest progress in our partnership with XL Batteries to deploy an organic flow battery with industrial-scale electricity storage capability at our Houston terminal. Our President, Guy Bessant, was in Houston recently and saw the newly installed battery. He said: "Long-term energy storage is critical for the global transition to greener energy alternatives. This partnership brings together XL Batteries’ expertise and innovations in flow battery technology and Stolthaven Terminals’ global presence in providing bulk liquid services.”

This week the Stolthaven global management team visited the Stolthaven Dagenham terminal - a full day including a townhall, a management safety observation walk and multiple discussions on safety, operations, customer centricity, business development opportunities, digital and sustainability initiatives. The Dagenham team has redeveloped the site and is delivering on Stolthaven’s promise to be the most respected global storage provider.

Earlier this month, our Global Programme Manager - Sustainability, Piran Patel, took part in a sustainability panel discussion at StocExpo 2025, an annual event for the tank storage and future fuels industry.   The panel topic was "20 years of progress: what is sustainable storage?" and participants discussed why terminals should look to be sustainable, what measures are being taken to make their terminal operations more sustainable, and the new technologies supporting improved efficiency and sustainability.   Piran said: "Creating a sustainable future is vital to our business, our customers, and our people. Last week we achieved a big milestone in the expansion of our Mount Maunganui terminal in NZ, with the safe arrival and installation of three new pre-constructed storage tanks, two already complete with insulation and cladding and with heating coils fitted. In-situ construction would have been difficult, so we confirmed that a crane-lift installation was possible. The process involved lifting the tanks (two 650m3 capacity and one 1,100m3 capacity) onto two barges some 300km from the terminal. They were then transported by sea, lifted onto transporters in the port and moved to our site for installation. The whole process was no mean feat and precision was required every step of the way. Lots of planning went into the lift and the whole process went smoothly - even the weather was kind.
