EV drivers in Amsterdam earn cashbacks for smart charging! We are proud of our groundbreaking partnership with ANWB, EQUANS and City of Amsterdam in which EV drivers are financially rewarded for relieving the grid. In the Netherlands and perhaps in Europe this is the first time the MSP pays EV drivers for flexible charging behaviour. The MSP has access to many EV drivers and is very suitable to align driver preferences with the grids needs. After connecting the charging cable, e-drivers enter their departure times via the ANWB app. Based on this, the charging process is plotted in the most efficient way, even using machine learning to optimise. This potentially relieves the power grid and sustainable energy is used optimally. Many thanks to the very successful MSP 2.0, ANWB, and the most innovative charge point operator Equans, for working out and implementing this revolutionary concept. And a big thank you to the city of Amsterdam for being the first city to pay EV drivers for flexibility. This creates space for Amsterdam to build more houses and reduce waiting lists on the grid. We invite more cities and charge point operators to join this program and earn more money with charging whilst helping the energy system. Cashback for smart charging: a win-win for e-drivers and energy transition. Want to know more? Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/eSFBfMy7

  • Yes, this is about Deftpower and Deftpower is writing this message, but Michael does a tremendous job explaining the Deftpower vision, tech and why the MSP 2.0 is the primary solution to pull-off smart charging. 🤩 The MSP 2.0 with smart charging makes charging cheaper, the environment cleaner. Nerd alert, it does get technical. But hey, smart charging is not easy.

Who will create smart charging solutions; big corporates or startups? ... Michael Johanns, who has unique experiences in both and is a smart charging enthusiast, reveals the answer in our latest podcast episode. Michael brings a long experience in the energy transition and E-Mobility world e.g. with Elli Mobility, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, TotalEnergies etc. Now he’s responsible for smart charging at a leading E-Mobility startup called Deftpower. The session began with an in-depth conversation with Michael regarding smart charging, offering insights from a leading OEM on the industry's operational landscape. We analyzed the charging market's complexity, discussing key players like CPOs and MSPs, and examined the potential of bi-directional charging across different regions. Concerns surrounding fraud were addressed, highlighting prevalent tactics and prevention strategies in an industry characterized by a constant 'cat and mouse game.' The episode concluded with an optimistic outlook, emphasizing the positive impact of reduced pollution on climate change and the ongoing transition towards more affordable mobility solutions, reinforcing that significant advancements are still anticipated. I had a blast in this longer-than-usual episode as we geeked out a bit more than usual, sorry for that :) It was also our first English episode => more languages will follow. It's conversations like these that refuel my energy to double down and give me hope even though there are setbacks along this transition towards a better world! Do you have questions or comments or opinions => leave them here and we'll engage! • J.P. Morgan & Deftpower explore the future of smart charging. Perhaps the biggest difference between good old gasoline charging at the pump and EV charging: EV charging will be nothing like the vanilla seller-buyer relationship of the fuel pump. Smart charging will revolutionise EV owners’ relationship with their battery compared to ICE owners’ one-dimensional relationship with their fuel tanks. J.P. Morgan has published a very interesting read on the future of EV charging payments and has signalled that the MSP plays a key role in developing smart charging. We are proud that together with Digital Charging Solutions, Elli and ChargePoint we could contribute to JP Morgans research. Big thank you to Bal Ahir, Tristan Attenborough and Rob Abrams for initiating the project. https://lnkd.in/er6wNvc3

Plug&Charge Roadshow Post 2 Update from our PnC Trip. In case you were wondering how setup a Plug&Charge contract with a multi-contract capable car (e.g. BMW Group and Volkswagen Group) and ISO15118-2, here is an example from Deftpower - Kudos to Jacob van Zonneveld who joined our Hubject Plug&Charge Ecosystem very early and believed in the improved and secure customer journey. In the video, you see how easily an end customer can create a contract simply by entering the PCID (VIN for BMW). After hitting the button, the MSP is sending the request to the Hubject PnC Ecosystem. Hubject will sign the Contract Bundle independent of the MSP/MO PKI, will inform the related OEM with an Event and the customer can choose the right contract over the car HMI. Stay tuned for more posts - next one - another CPO !!! Hubject #pnc #plugncharge #vedecom #charin #iso15118 Deftpower #bmw

  • 🚨 Fraud is a growing threat in the MSP world, but at Deftpower, we are one step ahead. Our advanced algorithms quickly detect and block suspicious activity, keeping our customers safe. 🤝 We are committed to protecting our customers from fraud. Our CEO Jacob van Zonneveld also highlights a major challenge: inaccuracies in CDRs. We correct 99% of these errors, ensuring the protection of our customers and their drivers. 🌍 The way forward requires a collaborative approach, with technology, industry partners, and surveillance working in harmony. At Deftpower, we are committed to leading this charge, ensuring a safer and more efficient future for all. #FraudPrevention #MSP #EVMobility #ChargingSolutions #innovation

Emperor of Roam // MSP 2.0 // Tikkun olam //

We don´t blame the thief when we don´t lock our bikes There has been a lot of buzz recently around fraud within the MSP community. Scammers are increasingly sophisticated in their approach and the fear is this can even bankrupt some MSPs. Not with Deftpower. Fraud management is and always will be a cat and mouse game which calls for a mixture of foresight and pragmatic responses. We, in close collaboration with our clients, have built dozens of algorithms that flag suspicious user behaviour and charging sessions. Where there is a high likelihood of fraud, users are blocked from further charging early on – even stopping their ongoing session(s) cold - preventing losses for our MSP clients. Here is a list of some of the criteria we use to detect fraud: ·   Too many concurrent sessions from one user ·   Impossible distance travelled between two charging stops  ·   Very high energy consumption from one user ·   Auto-block when charging session not paid in time Solutions to prevent fraud should go further than forcing users to pre-pay into wallets (bad UX) or reserving a fixed amount on the user’s payment method at the start of the transaction (expensive and error-prone).  There are also weaknesses in the system which the MSP cannot control, notably that 25% of CPOs do not share session updates at the start of the session, which prevents earlier detection of suspicious behaviour and rapid response. The recent spike in fraudulent activity should be taken seriously, but it should also be placed into context. Any industry must eventually learn to deal with fraudsters. It is a sign of a maturing market and a signal that we need more mature MSP platforms. This is bad news for platforms that are not as secure because any vulnerable platform becomes a target of opportunity for bad actors, who follow the path of least resistance.  I also wish to highlight that fraud is not the largest issue currently facing this industry. That, for me, is still the incorrect (or missing) Charge Detail Records (CDRs) from the CPOs. This year 5% of CDRs we received from CPOs are erroneous and this represents a huge amount of cash. We identify and correct 99% of them with our platform, meaning our clients and EV drivers are protected from wrong invoices and frustrating customer support experiences. But building tech to validate CDRs just because these vital records are simply “dumped” at the MSP desks unchecked is frustrating and, if our aim is to increase the profitability of our clients and the satisfaction of their customers, a greater systemic problem for this industry than fraud.
