BIG CONGRATULATIONs to the winners of the FIRST ever National Civic-Integrity Club Competition by Connected Development [CODE] with support from Oxfam in Nigeria, Government Secondary School Kubwa👏🎉 The competition was a “fierce battle of the champions” between👇 1. Government Secondary School Kubwa, Abuja 2. Nobels International School, Eket, Akwa Ibom state 3. Holywood International School, Asaba, Delta state 4. Model Girls secondary School, Aluu, Rivers state 5. Owerri Girls Secondary School, IMO state 6. Government Girls Secondary School Big Qua Town, Cross- Rivers, Calabar All being winners of the competition at the State level from the six States where the #PowerOfVoices Project is being implemented by Connected Development [CODE] supported by Oxfam in Nigeria Questions at the competition were based on the civic manual, current affairs and environmental sustainability pitches by the different schools. Aside shaping their minds on governance/civic engagement and #ClimateEducation at a young age, the club/competition is also focused on building their confidence/public speaking skills, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and exposing them to healthy social interactions/extracurricular activities to improve their social skills👌 We extend the profound gratitude of the Chief Executive, Hamzat Lawal and the entire team at Connected Development [CODE] to the ICPC Nigeria Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, for making time to share with these young ones on not just being leaders of tomorrow but agents of change, and for his added donation to the winners. Also thanks to representatives from Girl Child Support Initiative, NAPTIP, CISLAC, other partners present and to all our Civic Champions in all six states for their continued active participation in the club! Connected Development [CODE] looks forward to continued Civic Engagement and passing the baton to the coming generation long after these civic champions transition to higher education✊ Download the Civic Manual via https://lnkd.in/eem4srMf #PVPF4A #Fair4All #PowerOfVoices #CivicEducation #ActiveCitizens #KnowYourCivics

"Women are the backbone of every family, community..." – Olawunmi Ifeoluwa Gbolahan, speaking with Arise TV during the International Women's Day commemoration in Michika, Northeast Nigeria. At Oxfam, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to empowering women, advancing gender equality, and creating opportunities for inclusive growth. Together, we continue to break barriers, amplify women's voices, and build a more just and equitable world. #IWD2025 #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #Oxfam

Women are the backbone of thriving economies, yet many still lack access to financial services. At Oxfam, we are changing this narrative through our Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), ensuring women—especially at the grassroots—gain access to affordable credit, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial support. As of March 2025, our VSLA membership stands at 257,424, with 67.4% women actively securing their financial independence and driving community development. In the spirit of #IWD2025, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering women through financial inclusion—because when women thrive, communities flourish. Join us in celebrating 'For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.' #IWD2025 #FinancialInclusion #ForAllWomen John Makina | Fati N'zi-Hassane | Regina Afiemo | Daniel McCormick
