Solar Cooling in Action: Highlights of the Solar Cooling Conference and Tour Yesterday in Kisumu, Phaesun GmbH and WE!Hub Victoria Limited hosted a powerful gathering of minds and missions at the Solar Cooling Conference, bringing together project partners, innovators, funders, and grassroots stakeholders to discuss one of agriculture's most pressing challenges post-harvest losses and how solar-powered cold rooms can be a game changer. From in-depth technical dives into SelfChill technology to rich discussions about Cooling-as-a-Service models, the day spurred new ideas and daring conversations about how clean energy and inclusive business models may transform rural Kenya's food systems. Today the journey continues. We're going to Mbita and Homa Bay markets to showcase two solar-powered cold rooms that are already in use, one a conventional solar powered cold room in Mbita market and the world's first low-carbon cold room in Homabay market. The Low Carbon cold room is constructed from locally accessible materials, has low emissions, and is ready to serve small-scale traders and farmers in real-world situations. These are more than just installations; they are living instances of how collaboration, local creativity, and sustainability can work together to create long-term impact. As we expand our work, we are inviting partners, and agri-sector stakeholders to join us. Let us create solar cooling systems that are sustainable, effective, and tailored to the needs of those who require them the most. #SolarCooling; #RenewableEnergy; #SDG2; #SDG6; #SDG13

THEME: Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future. WE!Hub Victoria Limited takes great pride in being a leader in environmental conservation, and this year’s commemoration of World Wetlands Day was no exception. Our team joined fellow partners in Mbita Sub County, Homa Bay, to mark this significant occasion. The celebration was complemented by a clean-up initiative along the shores of Lake Victoria, aimed at preserving the natural beauty and health of this vital ecosystem. In support of the event, WE!Hub Victoria Limited donated cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Sub County administration to assist with the clean-up efforts. Furthermore, the day was made even more impactful with the planting of indigenous trees, reinforcing our commitment to environmental sustainability. Together, we continue to take meaningful steps towards safeguarding our wetlands for the benefit of future generations. #WorldWetlandsDay #WeTu #ClmateAction #ProtectNature #NEMA #NatureBasedSolutions

Closing the loop of Circular Economy - Turning Plastic Waste into Eco-Friendly Building Solutions. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are setting circular economy into practice. At WE!Hub Victoria Limited, we’re reforming plastic waste into building material through recycling mechanisms with our partner Timao Group. With our e-waste project we have collected more than 10 tons of electronic waste in rural Western Kenya which was technically tested and either repaired, reused or recycled. In our pre-processing plant in Homa Bay we dismantle all different fractions from the end of life items and ensure to bring them into recycling streams. Plastic parts are being transformed into building bricks which we use for construction of our new Water-Energy-Hub at Usenge Beach, where innovation meets eco-consciousness. Thanks to the support of Siemens #Cents4Sense initiative and Siemens Stiftung we are able to develop and test innovative and sustainable solutions for the development of rural Kenya. A new eco-toilet built entirely from recycled plastic! This initiative is just a small piece of our larger puzzle, we are creating sustainable solutions that include solar energy, clean water, electric mobility, and cold chain systems to reduce post-harvest losses. By championing a circular economy, we’re making a lasting impact in rural Western Kenya, where innovation not only improves lives but also protects the environment for generations to come. #Sustainability #EcoInnovation #CircularEconomy #CleanEnergy #ClimateAction
