Flux is excited to support the Soil Resources Group at ETH Zurich on a soil prospecting mission in Kenya! Our team has been working closely with ETH researchers, helping to identify and select optimal soils for their Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) pot experiments in Switzerland. Flux will be providing selected Kenyan soils, along with locally sourced rock powders, to support ETH Zurich's experiments. On International Women's Day, we'd like to highlight the youngest female member of our team - the inspirational HERINE ONDOLO ! Herine joined Flux as a GIS Engineer and Data Analyst last year, having completed her degree in Geo-Information in 2023. From the moment that Herine stepped into the office, her incredible work ethic, problem-solving attitude, and insatiable thirst for learning was apparent - alongside her beaming smile that is never far away from the surface. In the past six months her work on GIS for Flux has been extraordinary, developing new systems for data collection and presentation that have increased the productivity and traceability of our field operations and paved the way for rapid scalability of our work. As recognition of this, the Flux GIS team has been invited to speak at the Esri Eastern Africa GIS Conference in Mombassa later this year, to present their work on innovative GIS solutions for climate challenges. Action from suppliers or buyers alone is not enough to scale the burgeoning CDR industry. Sampling, sampling, sampling! As our deployments ramp up over 2025, our sampling teams are hard at work in the field - collecting and recording 1000s of soil samples over our field sites. These samples form the backbone of our Measuring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) protocols that allow us to accurately measure the amount of CO2 that has been removed from the atmosphere as a result of Enhanced Rock Weathering.
