New LNG carrier for QatarEnergy named “Al Tuwar” -- Strengthening the LNG carrier business and contributing to the stable supply of energy -- On April 17, a joint venture company comprising NYK, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., MISC Berhad, and China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited held a naming ceremony for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for QatarEnergy, the state-owned energy company of Qatar. The ceremony was held at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in China, and the vessel was named "Al Tuwar" after the name of a hill in Al Wakrah, a Major city in Qatar. This vessel is the first of a series of 12 LNG carriers that the joint venture company will build for QatarEnergy, one of the world's largest LNG producers. It is also the first LNG carrier that NYK is involved in building in China. NYK Group to Support Earthquake Relief Efforts in Myanmar The NYK Group extends its deepest condolences to all those impacted by the earthquake in Myanmar on March 28. NYK will donate 10 million yen to support relief efforts and reconstruction in the affected areas. Additionally, Yusen Logistics (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. and Yusen Logistics (Thilawa) Co., Ltd., both NYK Group companies, will also contribute essential relief funds. All of us at the NYK Group mourn the loss of life in this tragic event and offer our heartfelt sympathy to all who have been affected. NYK Offers Ship Tour to Guests from Jacksonville Japanese School🚢 In March, NYK welcomed students and parents from the Jacksonville Japanese School to board Grand Phoenix a Vehicles Carrier that was moored at the port of Jacksonville. The Jacksonville Japanese School opened in 2011 in the U.S. state of Florida for children who can speak and understand Japanese at their appropriate grade levels, regardless of nationality, in addition to adults who have an interest in the language and culture. Since 2017, the school has received assistance from the government of Japan. The ship tour was made possible through a partnership between the Honorary Consul of Japan in Jacksonville and a 54-year veteran of the Maritime Industry, Mr. Roy Schleicher, and NYK. On the day of the event, we conducted a ship tour with various support from the Jacksonville Port Authority, accompanied by our employees. The participating children were guided by the ship's crew and had the opportunity to see areas of the vessel that are typically not accessible, such as the bridge and cargo hold. It was a valuable experience, and they had a wonderful time. NYK will continue to convey the appeal of the shipping industry and vessels to children of the next generation to help them deepen their familiarity with the industry. #日本郵船 #NYK #BVTL 米フロリダ州日本語学校の生徒が自動車船を見学🚙 先月、米国フロリダ州の「ジャクソンビル日本語学校」の学生と保護者をジャクソンビル港に停泊中の #自動車専用船 「GRAND PHOENIX」の船内見学に案内しました。🚢 「ジャクソンビル日本語学校」は、2011年にフロリダ州ジャクソンビルに開校した日本語学校で、2017年4月からは日本政府からの政府援助対象校となっています。今回の訪船は、54年にわたる海運業界の経験を持ち、今はジャクソンビル名誉領事を務めるロイ・シュレイシャー氏と当社とのパートナーシップにより実現したものです。 当日はジャクソンビル港湾局による各種サポートを受け、当社社員による付き添いのもとで船内見学を実施しました。 参加した子どもたちは本船クルーの案内によりブリッジやカーゴホールドなど、普段目にすることができない船内も見ることができ、貴重な体験で、素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。 当社は今後もこのような機会を通し、次世代を担う子どもたちに海運業界や船舶の魅力を伝え、親しみを深めてもらえるよう活動していきます。 #日本郵船 #NYK #BVTL

NYK Concludes Contract for Construction and Charter of Dual-fuel Methanol VLCC for Idemitsu Tanker NYK’s first VLCC that can use methanol or traditional fuel oil for propulsion This vessel will be a Malacca max next-generation environment-friendly VLCC that NYK has been designing with Idemitsu Tanker, IINO Kaiun Kaisha, Ltd., and Nippon Shipyard. Methanol is a fuel expected to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It can reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by about 15% compared to when heavy oil is used.
