Executive Director and Port Chaplain at The Mission to Seafarers Singapore

Celebrating Hari Raya with Seafarers – Prioritising Mental Wellbeing At the Mission to Seafarers Singapore last evening, we hosted a meaningful Hari Raya celebration at our Drop-in Centre, generously sponsored by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). This was not only a time of festive cheer, but also a moment to focus on an increasingly urgent issue in the maritime community – the mental wellbeing of seafarers. The need to support seafarers’ mental health was raised during the recent MPA Seafarers Welfare Committee meeting. As a member of the committee, MtSS proposed incorporating a wellness talk into our celebration – turning an evening of food and fun into an opportunity for learning and support. We are especially grateful to Deepak San, General Manager of NYK Ship Management, who kindly invited the team consistingnn be of Capt Ram and Elyn from Big Yellow Fish to lead the mental wellness session. Elyn delivered an insightful and practical talk that resonated deeply with the nearly 30 seafarers from three vessels berthed at Jurong Port who joined us. Every seafarers left the centre not just with a festive meal and goodies, but also with valuable tools to better care for their mental wellbeing. Special thanks to: • MPA, for sponsoring the F&B and ongoing support of seafarers’ welfare, • Deepak San, for arranging the Big Yellow Fish team, • Our Chairman, Management Committee members, and dedicated MtSS staff, who ensured the seafarers were warmly welcomed and transported to and from the event. We remain committed to creating safe, supportive spaces where seafarers are cared for – both on and off their ships. Building world’s largest AI & community driven knowledge platforms!

🎙️ Recorded one of the most meaningful episodes of MarineX Radio yesterday in Singapore, presented by Yugen Infra & DMECA - DMET ALUMNI WORLD, with someone I’ve admired for a long time — Anubhav Garg Sir, DMET Class of 1992, and Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer at NYK Shipmanagement. NYK (NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT PTE LTD) has always been a dream company for many of us, especially those from my batch — and to sit down with the man leading it globally was a surreal experience. Over the last few months, I’ve had the privilege of interacting with Anubhav Sir, and what continues to leave a mark on me is not just his leadership but his humility, his empathy, and his unwavering love for DMET. Let me take a moment to share why today felt so special. After completing his B.Tech from DMET in 1992, Anubhav Sir spent over 10 years sailing across a variety of vessel types, gaining rich experience and respect at sea. His journey with NYK Shipmanagement began in 2004, when he joined their Singapore office after multiple successful stints as Chief Engineer onboard NYK-managed ships. Over the next two decades, he became an integral part of NYK’s global operations — overseeing fleets of car carriers, containers, and tankers, and rising to the role of Technical Director. In April 2022, he took the helm as MD & COO of NYK Shipmanagement. Throughout this incredible journey, what stands out is not just the ascent, but the way he has climbed — with sincerity, kindness, and a visionary mindset. He has led energy-saving projects, contributed innovative cost-saving proposals that earned him accolades from NYK Line, and remains focused on making NYKSM future-ready by harnessing the power of technology. His approach to leadership is deeply people-first, rooted in strong family values, and guided by a simple yet powerful idea — to leave behind a better world for the next generation. His belief in innovation-led growth, and his passion for technology-driven efficiency and safety, both onboard and ashore, make him a rare blend of tradition and forward-thinking. As we recorded the episode, it didn’t feel like just another podcast — it felt like a moment of pride, of emotion, of realizing just how blessed we are as DMETians to have role models like him. People who walk the talk. People who remind us of our roots, even as they redefine the future. DMETians are indeed a special breed, and it’s legends like Anubhav Sir who ensure that we, as a community, continue to be a force to reckon with in the maritime world. ⚓🌍 Stay tuned for the full episode — this one’s going to be close to the heart. PS: Also met DMETian Deepak ARORA Sir & DMETian Samir Batra Sir in NYK's office during the podcast. #MarineXRadio #AnubhavGarg #NYKShipmanagement #DMET #MaritimeLeadership #YugenInfra #DMECA #DMETianPride #HumbledAndInspired #MaritimeLegacy #TechnologyLeadership #SailingStrong Azzal Ghosh DMET Club MarineX Yugen Infra NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT PTE LTD

Ride on an EV supply boat in S'pore waters!! Had an incredible opportunity to take a short ride on Singapore’s first fully electric-powered, Light cargo Transfer vessel, the HYDROMOVER, developed by marinEV (@YinsonGreenTech), accompanied by our Chairman Mr. Ohashi, Capt. Vivek, and Mr. Egawa. We were given a detailed and insightful explanation by the enthusiastic management team led by marinEV's Managing Director Jan Viggo Johansen. Although EV boats in Singapore are still in their early stages, we recognize the immense potential they have for supply and crew transfer. These boats will significantly reduce carbon emissions by replacing traditional boats powered by IC engines in Singapore’s waters. Given size of NYKSM's fleet and number of S'pore anchorage calls in year 2024, we expect reduction in CO2 emissions in the range of 400-450MT if only EV boats are to be used. With no engine noise, fumes, and zero vibrations, these boats will also enhance the comfort and well-being of our crew who will use them in time to come. As we transition to more sustainable practices, initiatives like these are key in reshaping industries and driving us toward a cleaner, greener future. We at NYK Shipmanagement are excited about the possibilities and looking forward to collaborating with marinEV in the near future to explore using EV boats for supplies and crew changes on our vessels at Singapore anchorage. Support by MPA in such initiatives and working towards a more sustainable world is commendable. #Sustainability#ElectricBoats#CarbonFootprint#Scope3emissions
