Two Ravens VC, Crowberry Capital, Frumtak Ventures, Kría - Iceland Venture Initiative and Omega Ventures had a ton of fun last night bringing together 12 of the top Icelandic seed and Series A startups, 4 Icelandic VCs, and 25 US VCs together to learn about the Icelandic entrepreneurial landscape. Big thanks to Fertram Sigurjonsson for sharing his epic story about how he took Kerecis from startup to a $1.3BN exit in 2023. I have had the pleasure of doing business in Iceland since 2006. I co-founded Verne Global, which went on to become the first large-scale data center there, powered by 100% clean energy, and I've invested in several fantastic Icelandic companies (CCP Games, Hefring Marine, Treble Technologies, Rexby, LearnCove, etc.). One thing I have learned is that Iceland's startup founders punch way above their weight. For a country of only 360,000 people, it's remarkable how many venture-backed startups there are, including two recently exited unicorns (Kerecis and Alvotech). My VC firm, www.tworavens.vc, is excited to co-host the first Icelandic Venture Voyage, bringing 10 of Iceland's top startups and 3 Icelandic VCs to the US to meet with US investors the week of March 31st - April 3rd.
