Getting ready to welcome the rains!🌧️ In Bangalore, SayTrees is reviving the ecological heartbeat of the city through scientific lake restoration methods. From taxonomic studies by experts, desilting & bund reinforcement, from inlets channels to outlet restoration to building wetlands and improving groundwater recharge — every step is guided by hydrological experts, research-led studies and community-led stewardship. These efforts also include thoughtful plantation drives to assist terrestrial biodiversity and create a balanced ecosystem around the lake. The role of community doesn’t end at restoration — local residents are involved from the beginning to ensure future care, monitoring, and a deeper connection with these living ecosystems. Fixing a lake helps more than just water — it supports wildlife, raises groundwater, keeps the city safer from floods, and brings people closer to nature and much closer to water. About us
SayTrees is the fastest growing community of nature loving people from across the world. Started as an informal group, with a handful of techies in Bangalore coming together to plant trees in 2007 it is today a registered NGO which is known for it's amazing tree plantation activities. SayTrees works with Government and many corporate organisations to promote sustainable development of cities while maintaining the green cover of the cities. The group is actively supported by thousands of volunteers from kids, teens to senior citizens all working together to make their cities green. Our Mission: Each one must Plant one tree in a year. The idea is simple; just plant one tree in a year and look after it as your own family member. Be it your anniversary, your birthday or just another day, we encourage everyone to plant trees with their friends and family.

As air pollution worsens and temperatures keep rising, our cities are struggling to breathe. Green spaces are disappearing, and the effects are becoming more evident—hotter summers, poor air quality, and a growing need for natural cooling. While policies and technology can help, nature remains one of the most effective solutions. To address this, 6,186 trees have been planted at Patna School, Kolar in 2023 using the Miyawaki method, a technique that creates dense forests much faster than traditional plantations. These trees will absorb pollutants, lower temperatures, and improve biodiversity, turning once-empty land into a thriving green cover. Over time, this forest will act as a natural air purifier and a buffer against climate extremes, proving that the simplest solutions often have the greatest impact. #miyawakiforest #greencities #cleanairnow #climatechange #kolar #karnataka #saytrees #natureheals #forest #climateresilience

Two years ago, these lands stood barren—dry, lifeless, and forgotten. 🌍 Villagers would pass by, seeing nothing but emptiness. But today, after two years they stop to admire what has become a priceless jewel in their community. These trees now stand tall, reaching 20 to 25 feet, bringing shade, life, and purpose back to the land. Since 2022, SayTrees has planted: 🌱 9,000 trees in Jaipur, Buldhana 🌱 9,000 trees in Sindhkhed, Buldhana 🌱 6,000 trees in Loni, Sambhaji Nagar With every passing season, these forests cool the air, enrich the soil, restore biodiversity, and recharge groundwater. What was once seen as wasteland is now a thriving ecosystem—proving that the future isn’t something we wait for. It’s something we plant. #miyawakiforest #urbangreening #climateresilience #sustainablelandscape #actfornature #greenregeneration #saytrees

On March 7th, 2025, in collaboration with SayTrees Environmental Trust, Prakruthi, and Akshayakalpa, a two-day training program at Akshayakalpa Farm successfully equipped farmers with hands-on expertise in sustainable and organic farming, with a focus on dairy farming. Participants explored diversified income streams such as organic poultry, beekeeping, vegetable cultivation, and strategic dairy business planning—emphasizing chemical-free practices. The program provided valuable insights into cow health, nutrition, and breeding, empowering farmers to build profitable, eco-friendly farms. With exceptional hospitality and organic cuisine, the experience was both enriching and transformative, fostering sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship. #sustainablefarming #organicagriculture #dairyfarming #ecofriendly #farmersfirst #greenfuture #regenerativefarming #agripreneurship #climateaction

Women farmers are the backbone of agriculture. SayTrees joined a pivotal discussion in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, on the challenges, resilience, and contributions of women in agriculture. With over 100 women farmers, experts, and NGO leaders, the event shed light on issues like land ownership, early marriages, and social disparities. SayTrees is actively supporting women in natural farming by providing technical training, farm equipment, and plantation support across 815 acres. From introducing power weeders to combat labor shortages to distributing secateurs and input preparation drums, we’re enabling efficiency and sustainability. Investing in women farmers isn’t just about agriculture—it’s about food security, economic independence, equality, and a greener future. #womeninagriculture #sustainablefarming #saytrees #naturalfarming #agro2024 #empowerruralwomen #greenfuture

From Landfil to Lifeline 🌳 This site in Bingipura, Banagalore, unattended turned into a dumpyard receiving huge amount of waste every day. From 2015, with the efforts and support of local community, BBMP, and other organisations, initiatives focused on rehabilitating the site were started. From Mar 2022, SayTrees planted 63,000+ trees of more than 50 different species were planted. Over 3 years, this afforestation project has brought back the barren land to life. The trees are purifying the air in the area, restoring health of soil, and supporting biodiversity, turning a degraded space into a healthy and pleasant ecosystem. When we give nature a chance, it gives back tenfold. 💚 #sustainablefuture #urbangreening #climateaction #ecosystemrestoration #saytrees

An ancient well, built by the great Cholas, in Kolar Reserve Forest is undergoing restoration process for its structural integrity and enhance both water quantity and quality. The restoration process focuses on: Mitigating Groundwater Over-Extraction – Reducing dependence on deep tube wells that contain high levels of arsenic, fluoride, and other hazardous minerals. Optimizing Shallow Aquifer Recharge – Increasing water retention capacity by 50% for long-term sustainable use and helps in access to clean water. Ecosystem Conservation – Ensuring a safe and reliable water source for wild animals, birds and plantation efforts within the facility. By shifting from deep well waters to open well water usage and implementing conservation measures, this initiative supports sustainable groundwater management while preserving a historical water structure. #AncientWells #SaveWater #GroundwaterRecharge #RestoreTheWells #WaterSustainability

As Delhi grapples with rising temperatures and worsening air quality. The need for green infrastructure has never been more urgent. Over 15,000 trees, planted using both Miyawaki and traditional methods at Delhi Metro Nangli Shed since 2021, now stand as a growing solution to these challenges. What was once an overlooked space is now transforming into a dense forest, mitigating the urban heat island effect and enhancing climate resilience. With each passing season, this plantation strengthens Delhi’s fight against extreme weather, proving that the most effective way to combat environmental challenges is to grow through them. #greendelhi #urbanforest #climateresilience #coolingthecity #sustainablefuture #saytrees
