Enabling Mobility. Empowering Lives. At Verizon, as part of our CSR commitment, we’ve partnered with Youth4Jobs Foundation and NeoMotion to provide motorized wheelchairs to Persons with Disabilities (PWD) — helping unlock mobility, dignity, and financial independence. We’ve signed up to support 150 PWD citizens, starting with 45 beneficiaries across Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. This initiative goes beyond mobility — it's about creating livelihood opportunities and enabling lives. We’re truly happy and humbled to give back to the society we belong to. There’s immense joy in knowing that our efforts are making a real difference — in someone's movement, their confidence, and their future. It was an honor to have Shankar Arumugavelu EVP & President Verizon Global Services, join us in personally handing over the first set of motorized wheelchairs. His presence reinforced our shared belief in the power of purpose and community. On Tuesday, 8th April, we took another meaningful step in our corporate social responsibility (CSR) journey by partnering with GiftAbled to promote accessibility and inclusion. The event, held at our Bengaluru office, brought together 47 beneficiaries with disabilities. It was an honour to distribute mobility aids and assistive devices that empower independent living. Our initiative also included raising awareness about accessing allied services designed to support sustainable independence. This gathering was more than just an event; it was a celebration of possibilities, collaboration, and the power of a supportive community. #GiftAbledImpactStories In partnership with OneAdvanced, GiftAbled has proudly distributed 9 NeoMotion vehicles to individuals with spinal cord injuries, unlocking new levels of mobility and independence. Many of them have now kickstarted their journey with Zomato as delivery partners, opening up new livelihood opportunities! We also had the honour of supporting children and youth by distributing: 👂 15 hearing aids to children with hearing impairments 🖐️ 15 Dextroware Devices to students and youth with Muscular Dystrophy, Quadriplegia, and Cerebral Palsy — empowering them with tools for greater accessibility and independence. On the way back!!   A few days ago, my dear colleague Sowmya R and I were on our way back home. It was a busy day, and our conversations were filled with a lot of work happenings. As we navigated the busy traffic, we saw a differently-abled person maneuvering through it gracefully and independently on a fantastic-looking electric vehicle. Honestly, It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, and how sometimes the bigger picture can feel a bit abstract. But seeing this individual, given a newfound sense of freedom and mobility, brought the concept of "impact" into sharp focus. This wasn't just about providing transportation; it was about empowering someone with greater independence and opportunity. Moments like these underscore the real impact of Verizon's commitment to our communities. 📌 ATscale commits to change at the Global Disability Summit 2025 in #Berlin #GDS2025 came to a close yesterday and we were delighted to come together with so many like-minded people, organizations and governments  working to advance the global disability inclusion agenda and share solutions to reach millions more people with #AssistiveTechnology. ATscale adds its voice to governments, partner organizations, OPDs, civil society, and disability-rights advocates worldwide to drive Global Disability Summit forward. ATscale commits to prioritize #Equitable access to assistive technology (AT) as a critical enabler of inclusion, empowering persons with disabilities and others who benefit from #AT to participate fully in #Education, #Employment, and #Society. At #GDS2025, ATscale committed to: ✅Supporting at least 35 low- and middle-income countries to directly reach 50 million individuals - a majority of them persons with disabilities—with life-changing assistive products and services by 2027; ✅Raising $195 million by 2027 to support country-level AT integration, expand workforce capacity, and promote innovation in AT provision; ✅Focus on reducing barriers like taxes and tariffs to enhance access to affordable, high-quality assistive products for those who need them most; ✅Prioritizing inclusion by allocating at least 5% of funding to civil society organizations, including OPDs, ensuring their voices are at the heart of our work; ✅ Advocating for increased national and international investment to close the significant AT access gap, ensuring no one is left behind; ✅Supporting the integration of #AT into #Humanitarian responses, helping to preposition essential products and strengthen preparedness plans in crisis-affected regions, providing vital support when it is needed most.  🌍 Weil 15 % der Menschen weltweit mit einer Behinderung leben - und noch kein einziges Land vollständig barrierefrei ist. Das muss sich ändern. 🦼 Deshalb braucht es Projekte, die echte Teilhabe ermöglichen:
 Zum Beispiel mit einem Rollstuhl, aus dem ein elektrischer Scooter wird - und damit mehr Freiheit und Selbstbestimmung entsteht. 
📱 Oder mit Lese- und Schreibhilfen für blinde Schüler*innen, die in Indien dafür sorgen, dass alle Kinder gemeinsam lernen können. Auf dem Global Disability Summit tauschen sich Menschen aus der ganzen Welt aus, damit Barrierefreiheit überall Realität wird.
