📌𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗧𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮 📅From 8 to 11 of April, Kinley Wangmo, ATscale Senior Programme Manager, undertook a country mission in #Tonga to discuss on the upcoming ATscale-supported programme for improving access to #AssistiveTechnology and directly related rehabilitation services for school aged children, with relevant government officials, UN partners, NGOs and CSOs. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮: 🔸ATscale Senior Programme Manager met with the Minister and the Director of Corporate Services at the Ministry of Health. She also held meetings with the Chief Executive Officers of the Ministries of Education and Training, and Social Justice. 🔸A dissemination #Workshop was conducted to provide detailed information on the call for proposals for potential partners. The workshop was attended by NGOs, UN partners, civil society organizations (CSOs), Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs) and government counterparts from the Ministries of Education and Health. Besides Tonga, ATscale is also supporting the same programme in Vanuatu, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Samoa, Kiribati, and the Federated States of Micronesia through the Australian Government aid, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. ➡️ A selection of photos reflect our collaborative effort during the visit! #ATChangesLives  #UnlockTheEveryday

However, despite evidence that using a prosthesis can significantly improve quality of life and reduce morbidity and mortality for amputees, World Health Organization estimates that only 5-15% of people who need prostheses in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have access, and this need is growing. Having access to appropriate prostheses and orthoses can change a person’s life, allowing them to fully participate in all aspects of society, including education, work, family and much more. 🎗️ Observing #LimbLoss and #LimbDifference Awareness Month, ATscale is committed to strengthening systems so that people get the affordable, high quality and appropriate access to prosthetic and orthotic services and products in LMICs. 📑Want to learn more? 📌Full room & crucial insights at UNOPS side event: Partnerships in Action: How Collaboration and Innovation Drive Impact #NDMUN28 Today, ATscale Senior Programme Manager Henri Bonnin and Dr Hana Farra spoke at UNOPS led event at the 28th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors & UN Advisers. ➡️They emphasized the importance of victim assistance as a fundamental component of #MineAction highlighting that #AssistiveTechnology is essential to providing assistance including medical care, rehabilitation, psychological and psychosocial support, and socio-economic inclusion. “Most direct victims of explosive ordnance will develop a long-term impairment and will need continuous support including rehabilitation, affordable and accessible assistive technology. Victim identification and data collection, access to specialised services and disability-inclusion initiatives are therefore essential components of victim assistance under mine action” said Henri Bonnin following mine action standards dedicated to victim assistance. 💡𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 - Dr Hana Farra Victim Assistance Officer shared of hope from #Syria, where access to mobility aids, prostheses, and other assistive products and services are helping to restore mobility, dignity, and independence, ultimately saving lives. Hana shared the following working group objectives: ✅ Mapping of services ✅Referral to available multisectoral services ✅ Give the support to national initiatives and national NGO - We also heard practical examples of #Gaza’s adaptive implementation models, #SouthSudan capacity building on the ground, & training of Somali police forces to address mine action clearance, risk education, and victim assistance.
